Hi everyone.
I'm thinking of replacing the Goodyear eagle nct 5 run flats on my 2013 128 I convertible with m sport package with Pirelies p7 cinturatos non run flats. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks. |

I've had Continental Extreme Contact DW non-runflats on my wife's 128i M-Sport convertible for the past 2 years. They provide a great ride, superb handling, higher treadwear rating, and are not as expensive as Michelins or Pirellis. When these wear out, I'll get another set, and when my runflats on my 2013 335i wear out, I'll replace those with the same Contis as well.

I just purchased an 08 135i cabrio and am planning to change from the run flats as well. Did you replace with the exact same size tire that were on your car originally?

I'm going to replace my NCT 5s with either the Contis or Bridgestone S-04s... And go square also.

I replaced the stock run flats (which provided a very rough ride with the BMW Performance suspension) soon after purchasing the car with Michelin Pilot Super Sports and it made a pretty significant difference in ride quality, dry and wet handling, noise, etc. Still have them on the car and love them! Better wear than the PS2s on previous vehicles.
The biggest question I get from people is "What do you do if you get a flat?" My answer..."That's why I have AAA." |

when i r/r my funflats it will be w/ Continental Extreme Contact DWS - have them on an E46 M3 [second pair] and E36 328is; great grippy tires even in rain/snow [yes snow - only a few times though] w/ decent tread life/price.

I almost bought the Contis. They make a ultra performance all season that would be good in areas that get more snow than we do. But what I got is a square setup of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I am very happy with them. I got the normal size rear tires all the way around. They're a little wide for the front wheels but Tire Rack said they would be OK as did the local tire shop. Now I can rotate tires. Should help reduce understeer too but I haven't driven in an autocross since getting them to find out. They were a little more than the Contis but weren't bad.

I replaced my run flats with Pilot A/S 3s. Kept the staggered setup, but was told I can at least rotate side to side. They're quieter and more comfortable, and I don't have to worry about driving in lower temps this winter (we don't really get snow where I live, but it does get too cold for summer tires).
I also bought the BMW mobility kit to keep in the trunk. Last edited by nkmu; 08-03-2014 at 08:28 PM.. Reason: added |

I've got the DW version of the same tire - "summer" tires, as they are called. We moved from Texas to NC and so far, so good. Don't think we'll see too much snow down here near Wilmington, although we did get some pretty extreme cold this past winter down in TX near San Antonio, but it didn't seem to affect the ride or handling. Of course when it's that cold (ice on the roads) we usually stay home. Hoping that the DW's hold up well this coming winter.
