1M Production - Question: Will Military Sales offer it?

As the title states, I'm looking for input regarding the 1M and whether or not BMW Military/Diplomatic Sales will offer it. I've spoken with a few dealers and no one seems to have any info. I haven't even had much luck finding a point of contact at Military Sales HQ that I can contact.
From what I've gathered, models produced in limited quantities (i.e. MINI GP) don't typically get offered by Military Sales, however, this is supposed to be the "entry level"/"attainable" ///M car... so which one is it? My local Military Sales rep knows that I've got a check with her name on it waiting... c'mon BMW, TAKE MY MONEY!

Thanks

C'mon guys, I can't be the ONLY one stressing over this. This is our chance to (hopefully) get some attention and maybe the right person will read the thread and decide to give us some answers

I already have a deposit down with MSP....doesn’t necessarily mean that they will offer it. I just sent another email to my CA trying to get more details. So far he really doesn’t know, he said received the latest production schedule and still nothing on the sheet for US specification production. Quite honestly I am starting to look at just going for a M3.

Military Sales

I'm also talking with my Pentagon rep (Glen) that I bought my 135i from just over a year ago. Getting a great deal on a 135i was nice, and perhaps the only reason I'm looking at the 1M because of the possibility of breaking even or just below what I owe on my loan.

I personally wouldn't mind if there is little to no discount...just let me know quick as I deploy in FEB!!!

No inside info here, just a gut feeling: if the quantities are strictly limited (e.g., 2700 total or 1000 to the U.S.), then I think we're screwed. However, if the limitation is only with the timeline (i.e., only being built until Spring 2012), I think we're in luck.

Again, just a hunch. I'm gonna go talk to the guys at Pentagon tomorrow and I'll let you guys know if I find anything out.

Yup, that matches what Pam @ Cars Intl and I think as well. If it's a set number, then we're SOL () but if it's just limited by time then we have a shot ().

What worries me a little bit is the possibility that the Military Sales "market" gets overlooked/forgotten

Yeah, we're a bit of an afterthought because we're such a small share of the U.S. market.

I'm glad you're making the push. Let the rest of us know if you find out anything or need help convincing someone.

So, now that BMW said they will build as many as ordered will Pentagon sales be selling them?

Wait...what? Has there been another release?

You know, I've got a gut feeling that they are being intentionally vauge in order to stir up demand. I honestly can't remember where BMW in an official release memo or statement said 2700 (again, I could be wrong). Others (CAs) and people here with "inside info" have stated such. To counter that, we've also heard from inside sources that it would be limited to production time, not quantity. I dunno...maybe both. Maybe they see that they only have the ability to crank out 2700 in the 9 months anticipated for production length (10 a day sound realistic...MAR-DEC 11?)

Thanks drillslinger for making sure there are people who want this through military sales. I absolutely would buy one. The timing is perfect for me and this car fits everything I could ask for.

C'mon BMW, we know you don't have to, but if you did, you would make some people very happy. And I would sing the praises of BMW everywhere and anywhere.

I was beginning to lose hope until today. All this talk about built to order and limited time instead of limited numbers is making me anxious again

Nope, that's a BMW NA thing. We get the std German warranty until we take our cars back to the states where the 5 yr w/free maint. takes over.

Yup, except it's 4 yr, not 5. At least the UK has a better warranty then DE does.

EVERYWHERE has a better warranty than Germany! Actually the warranty(its called: gewährleistung) over here is just six months! After six months until two years time - it is up to BMW's descretion whether to warranty the car or charge the owner. Welcome to Germany. lol AND... you must prove the car has been serviced by a BMW dealer via the stamps in the service book before they will consider/a free repair.

As long as your brother is active duty and TDY over here or stationed over here... you can order a car thru MCS. The price is slightly less then a regular ED price.

That part is not exactly correct, but I don't want to derail this thread.

Best regards,
