Drying my car

Hey All,

I have an '06 323i jet black. It seems that when I am finished drying my car, parts of my towel have black marks. Is this normal?

What are you using to dry it? Go out and get yourself "The Absorber". It works wonders, and is lint free. You should be able to find it at stores like Walmart, K-mart, or mst stores that sell car detailing supplies.

hmm I'm using a sham. I am worried I'm rubbing the paint off my car lol. Have any of you seen that happen before?

It's probably your mirrors. Many manufacturers paint their red and black mirrors with single stage paint (BMW, MB, Infiniti, Audi etc..) so some of the pigmented paint rubs off when you touch them. Don't worry about it. What is worriesome is that you're drying with something abrasive enough that it's rubbing off paint. I'd definitely ditch the chamios and go with a microfiber towel or something like the absorber.

It could also be dirt that is still left on your car that you missed during the wash. Like around wheel opening, bottom part of the bumper and side skirts, etc...

I'd have to agree with Mr. BMW and say it is dirt from the car somewhere missed during the wash. It's common and the problem areas are under the rocker panels (sides), around the exhaust tips, some rubber trim pieces, wheel wells, etc.

I clean all of those areas when I wash and still, at times, get a little black smudge somewhere on my WW MF towels. I wouldn't get too concerned - it happens.

WW only those absorber towels and there copies are all bad news.
