Anyone installed M3 wheels on a 1 series?
Hi guys,
I am thinking about getting the M3 style 219 in gunmetal for my 128i but need to be sure they will fit and be flush with fender without modifications. The specs are: Front: 18 x 8.5 et29 245-40-18 Rear: 18 x 9.5 et23 265-40-18 I've been reading that with this setup the wheels will rub and need to do modifications at the back. I was also adviced to use 35mm instead of 40mm tires in order for them to fit and avoid rubbing. Another advice is to use the front size at the rear as well, meaning I would need to get 4 fronts. Anyone done this or tested, any comments and advice are appreciated. |

Please do a little bit more research on how tire sizing and offsets work. The "40" in the size of the tire is not 40mm. Its a ratio of tire width to height in %, so its 40% of the width is the height of the sidewall.
Also, changing the rolling diameter of the tire so that you can fit super aggressive wheels is silly. And no, they wont fit. |

the wheels will absolutely not fit. They are too wide and will rub severely on the fender side.

with suspension work including but not limited to:
- coilovers with extremely stiff springs (or bagged suspension) - lots of negative camber - rolled and pulled fenders it will work, just not with those tires. tire sizes should be closer to 215/35 and 245/35.

Thanks guys for all your input.
I'm dissapointed to hear these wheels won't fit as they would look really good on my car, but hopefully I can find a replica or similiar to this style. Cheers! |
