BMS Dual Cone Intake Question
ok im sorry if this is being posted in the wrong place but its starting to worry me. So about two months ago i purchased the intake and installed it myself and since then i notice my oil temperature get hotter way quicker than it used to and also take longer to cool even after i turn the car off. so my question is if something bad is happening or what even if i don't drive the car it gets hot pretty quick but it never rises over 240 °F
thanks for the help |

Is that your only mod?
My guess is you are watching your gauges too much, the intake change shouldn't effect oil temps. Last edited by Suds; 04-16-2013 at 08:59 PM.. |

An open intake like that DCI will not affect oil temperatures, however, they do impact your intake air temperatures quite a bit especially down here in Florida. I love my stock box!

Just curious, is there a reason you chose map 4?

So, map 4 is stock with can active, I believe.
Driving hard is the only thing that will create higher oil temps, stock or tuned. Maybe check your oil level, that might effect the temps a bit. |

This...two months ago when the outside temp here was 30 degrees it took 20-30 minutes to warm up my car and it never got past 220. Now two months later it's 80 degrees out and it takes 5-10 minutes to warm up may car and it gets to the normal 240 degrees.

It's probably nothing to worry about, and the suggestions above me are great and one is probably right, but just in case, another possibility exists if you changed your oil recently. I didn't see it brought up in the thread, but when did you last change it, and did you switch the brand/oil that you used? I always use a BMW recommended oil, but I notice that switching between different oils (especially between full synthetic and BMW's synthetic mix) affects average oil temperatures by as much as 10 degrees depending on the oils. Just something else to consider on top of everyone elses' great suggestions.
