Burger Motorsports Oil Catch Can

I received my BMS catch can and installed it yesterday. At $179 you guys that are running performance mods it's a great bolt on kit that takes about 25 minutes to install. The construction of the can is excellent.

WHY USE A CATCH CAN:

A catch can is used to aid in the reduction/elimination of Blow-by. Blow-by is caused when a combustion in the engine forces fuel, air, and moisture past the piston rings and into the crankcase. From there, the blow-by is released by the crank case vents and back into the intake pipe. This occurs on all engines, but is worse on turbo engines due to the stronger combustion. If you don't have a catch can that excess crap will build up in the valvetrain, turbo, intercooler, and intercooler piping.

Thanks for the info. How can you tell when it's time to empty the can? Is access easy?

Hey gazz, you never really know when it's time to check it but I would say once every few months depending on how you drive. It just screws of at the bottom.

I have read about these on the US threads over the years, great idea, just cannot understand why the car company will not fit these to protect these engines, small outlay for big gains.

It is a great idea but in stock form the catch can isn't as useful compared to a FBO car running high boost.

Excellent write up Edwin. I think it's fair to say you represent Burger Motor Sport down under

IMHO, this is a must have mod for all N54's. I've wanted one for quite some time but all the other OCC options available have problems with leaking etc! At least I know if it has a BMS stamp on it, it will work

If any other Brisbane guys are 100% committed to getting one of these PM me ASAP.

I'll take the first 2 that contact me. I'll also need payment once my CC has been charged as I'll divide it by 3.

We are looking at roughly $200-$205 delivered (but don't quote me!!).

Product looks good. I've aways said oil catch cans are a under-rated bit of kit.

Agree Joe. The amount of oil that i had in my stock IC piping while installing my ETS was unbelievable. Same deal with the CP. I think everyone should get one especially guys that track their cars.

I'll open the can in a bout 2-3 weeks and report back to see if it's caught some oil but as you can see in Terry's vid only after one week the oil that would slowly make it into the intake, turbo's, IC and CP.
