Help with rear subframe bushing install

My 09 135i is at the shop getting the rear subframe bushing installed. They called me with a problem. They said the 4 M3 bushing can only be installed from the top, but then there is no support for the rubber portion of the bushing from the bottom and they are worried it may cause a problem in the future.

I've looked at the M3 subframe parts diagram, it seem that the front bushings are to be install from the top and the rear bushings install from the bottom with a supporting bushing at the bottom.

Can anyone shed any installation help with this?

Thanks,
AW135i

Let us know what you find out. I also have the parts but have yet to have them installed. I would love to know what I'm up against. I bought my parts at HPautowerks too.

Just follow the M3 subframe bushings diagram from HP's website. Everything is fine, it was just my mechanic raising a concern regarding the front bushings.

BTW. If you guys are installing the M3 front bushings kit and sway bars. The result is definitely much improved cornering control.

That's good to hear! I have to wait until I return from my vacation to get all the parts installed. I'm going to have the following installed.

M3
Front Control Arm Kit
Rear Guide Rod Kit
Rear Upper Link Kit
Subframe bushings

How significant of a change is the ride quality/harshness with the subframe bushings may I ask?

I've installed the front bushing kit, rear subframe bushings and M3 sway bars. The ride quality on stock RFT is not much harsher than stock. For example, in previous cars that I had installed coilovers, sway bars and urethane suspension bushing. The ride was definitely harsh and this is no where near that. Hope that helps.
