Should I be worried?
Taking my car in next week for the 3 year service/free oil change...upon calling the dealership they advised me of the multiple recalls on the car. Seat belt thing and the hpfp issue. My concern is...as of today Ive not had any hpfp issues...Im worried that after they "fix" the issue...it will actually cause the issue. My faith in BMW service is not very high...Should I tell them to leave the hpfp alone?

As every BMW recall I've had done has been handled perfectly (4 BMWs over 15 years), why don't you have faith in your dealer? If, in fact, they've screwed up on your car in the past, then maybe you should look for a new dealer.
But it seems to me that if you don't go in for the recalls and have problems in the future, it will be on your dime, not BMW's. Just noticed a thread on the subject on the E90 board: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=510617 Tom Last edited by Tom K.; 04-04-2011 at 01:45 PM.. |

If you don't get it done, after your warranty expires and something happens... its your money they are coming after.
Like Tom said, I will reinforce the idea that it is BEST to go ahead with all the recalls and if you have problems with your dealer speak out and let it be known. If that doesn't solve it find another dealer nearby.

^^Recalls have NO TIME limit. You could put your car in storage and five years later BMW would HAVE to perform the recall.
TSB's are something different - and do expire. Many people confuse the two. Just like when you bring your car into (any) dealership... you can not say... "do not perform the recall". BMW dealers HAVE to perform the recall work as required by the federal law. Just like a new or used car can not be sold with a pending recall needed to be done. |

In my case i did not have any HPFP issues for the first 11K miles. Last month i dropped the car at the dealer to do the seat belt recall and they said that there is an ECU update to prevent HPFP so i did it.
One week later Bamm my HPFP died on the highway
