LCI Tail Light Retrofit Help

I have a 2011 135i, U.S. model, and I would like to retrofit the 2012 LCI tail lamps. According to McKenna BMW, I need to recode after the retrofit. However, reading through the posts indicates no coding is necessary. I am throughly confused at this point, so I am asking for anyone that has done the retrofit on the same year and model as mine to reply with their experience. Coding yes or no. Thanks kindly.

I have a 2011 135i and recently retrofitted the Blackline LCIs. No coding was necessary. They're completely plug and play.

Okay, thanks for that. Do you have any photos of the black lines to post? I am trying to decide whether to do them or OEM.

Sure. Here they are on BSM. If you click through the blackline thread you can probably find pictures of them on whatever color you have.

yeah, that looks good with the black paint. Thanks for posting. I saw in another thread some place called Schneider has them, but if I read correctly, the whole shop is on vacation for three weeks.
