Service

Service indicator is now showing. Got a couple of quotes from nearby BMW dealers, range from £325 to £345.

Seem's a bit steep for a brake fluid drain/refill and oil change. Mentioned they cannot replace the air filter as it's a non stock one, they both wouldn't drop the prices though.

Is this the expected price to pay for a BMW service ?

WoW!!!!! And I thought the kraut's here were charging way too much for a "oil service".

The BMW Zetnrums here want 120 euros IF I bring the oil and a tax free(DE has 19% sales tax) VAT form. This would include an oil and filter change and checking the polen filter. IF it need a filter that another 28 euros, they said.

I think to change the brake fluid they would charge an hour's labor. So another 100 euros and probably 20 euros in parts. But this is just a guess on my part. £325 to £345 sounds way too high to me! Try calling around to a few more dealers. Ask them what all they are doing for your hard earned cash?

bye,

Paid the £320 and got it done. At least they found a steering problem during the service, so don't feel too hard done by.

Esscolab,

Got my 2yr brake fluid change done a few months ago at BMW. Cost was £120. I'm not sure about the next main service, as mines due in 6 K (6 months time).

Mad, was it just the brake fluid for this cost ? What about your oil change or did you do it previously ?

Esscolab,

Was just the break fluid and a courtesy vehicle check as the 2yr mark came up right in the middle of the 1st and 2nd scheduled services (2nd service is due in 6 months at my current 1K miles PCM).

My 1st service was back at 17,000 miles and did NOT include brake fluid and cost £220. So looks like total price you paid "all in" is very similar to what I paid over my 2 visits to the dealer.

Mad.
