Carbon Fiber roof.

Hey Guys,
haven't found similar tread anywhere, wondering if anyone knows whether you need any special instrument or qualificaltion (simply saying BMW dealer) in order to replace the the roof panel. Has anyone a single clue on it?
Thanks in advance!

cf roof - nice choise Marat)
I think it's not the real problem to install it, you just need to ask the instruction how to do it from the supplier, I think it's Revo?

Revozport, yeah. Well Evgeniy, you know ho expensive the official dealers can be and how useless, especially in Russia

You may like to go back a while and check the Powerbeast built thread on the notorious Dakar Yellow 1M. He was probably the first who installed a real cf roof on a 1M. Or just PM him about details that you want to clarify.

I agree about the IND comment above as well; however, I doubt they can match the price of Revozport either for the item or for shipping cost to Moscow.

Powerbeast has been good at replying other queries, but was really quiet about the roof.

he told me personally that the shop had issues doing the roof replacement and it was a PITA. it got done however, so dont let a poor shop's struggles get in the way of the full roof replacement from revozport. ha ha
i went with the overlay from revozport; sure it sticks out a little bit but it looks just fine by me and everyone that has seen it

Thanks for this. Hopefully, I would have mine done sometime next year. Just like to find a reliable shop here to do it.

As long as it is lightweight stuff, shipping is no an issue

My plan is slightly different, wanna keep oem look, so everything will still be VO painted.

Just my opinion, but if you go to the expense and time to do the CF roof then clear cote it only. It will contrast amazingly with your VO for sure. It would also be OEMish as it would replicate an E92 really well.

If I had the $$ I would love to do this too!

You know it is not that expensive . Most of them are around 1.5k mark, and if you want a German made one - 2.5k euro.

I would avoid this at all costs. My original 1M was rolled and I very much doubt the driver (not me) would have walked away if it had some aftermarket CF roof. Given the state of the roof after the accident, I'd say the driver would probably be dead now.

There is NO good reason to do a CF roof. Not only will you dramatically lower the value of your 1M, you will put your life in danger. I'll be happy to send you photos of the wreck.

You're not removing the structural pieces that hold the cars frame together, you're just removing the sheet of roof skin and replacing it with cf.

And you trust that CF roof won't come flying off or shatter into pieces in event of a rollover?

I'd be interested to see how your insurance company treats you when your passenger sues you for injuries.

Everyone assumes their own level of personal risk. I'm a lot more confident trusting the PhD-level BMW engineers who have crashed and tuned the car for safety than some guy in a body shop with no degree and a glue gun.
