What does the PCV do? And what does the BMS version do?

Thanks Ian. I've read some DIY guides and there is mention of a plastic valve cover. Does this need upgrading/changing too?

And is there only one valve or one per cylinder?

Vin, this could be a job for Northern BM. I'm ordering the parts today so do you want me to get an extra PCV for you?

I just installed a RB PCV in a mate's car today and noticed that the PCV didn't seem to have a spring in it. The valve just moves freely inside the body. I didn't notice my RB PCV being like that (I actually didn't look so not sure if it was or not). So, should it have a spring or not?

His car goes fine so I can only assume it's working as planned.

Is that a question or a statement?

I'm guessing you mean that it doesn't have a spring. If so, thanks for the advice. I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about it now.

The OEM PCV has a spring in it. So I wasn't sure if the aftermarket version should have one as well.

The sad thing is most BMW owners flock to the dealers like LEMMINGS to the cliff face and jump off hoping the dealer will save them. The sad thing is they don't give a dam, but you still go there with your wallet wide open please take my money, please can i bend over now

Well i laugh at you all pay the price, just don't complane to me about the cost of you coffee making friendly dealer.

But the coffee is pretty good, or was that the Girl that makes it

Sorry for the smart ass comment the dealers just annoy the hell out of me.

+999999

I spoke to local dealer and apparently "These cars are designed much better than to require that sort of procedure".

Haven't found anyone in Melbourne that will do it so like I originally planned will DIY. But it shits me because I will possibly sell soon and if the buyer has half a clue will want to know about this and the water pump both of which I'll have done myself :/
