PLASTIDIP!!! Positive reenforcement needed!

Who has used Plasti-Dip??
Who has plasti-dip now??
How long has it been on??
Does it Work??
Does it peel off like in the videos??

I am getting a serious serious itch to do a rather "large" Plastidip project!

Wheels, diffuser, and grille to be completed soon hopefully!

What color Should I do the wheels in? I am thinking Olive Drab green, let me know what you think!! My car is BSM.

I am kind of scared and want some positive reenforcement on this little endeavor

Honestly I think that stuff is pretty cool if your wanting to go for a matte finish or if your car got into an accident and whoever painted it did a piss poor job... I watched a video of the inventor/owner of the company and it looks very very simple... The only hard part would be taping everything perfect so that will take some time but otherwise that special spray gun of his that is made for the plasti-dip which comes with the kit is what makes it work. It sprays a perfect amount of whatever color you want and you dont have to be a professional painter either. Its that spray gun lol. I saw him do his brand new Audi A6, outside, with it being sort of windy while he was diong it! came out looking PERFECT and that was just him showing you how simple and easy it is. If you spend some time on it and prep the car right I would def give it a shot.

Also I do have a buddy that did the middle of his hood, roof, and decklid matte black with the plasti-dip and man it really looked incredible. and he also said it had been on there for over 4 months with no chips or issues whatsoever. He also if your trying to take it off its really simple too. I would do it man and its reversable. Your car will def stand out compared 99% of the other 335i's that have regular factory gloss paint which turns peoples heads

I think black cars look great with light-colored wheels. Make a 2-tone color scheme... black for the body, and all of the accents in a bright color like yellow or red. But the wheels probably wouldn't look as good in a loud color... you can use the plastidip to make some light stripes in a bright color, and do the wheels in a duller version of that color.

I used to love the green-on-black look when I was a teenager, but I think that was largely because of the black Civics with green neon lights at the beginning of the first "Fast and Furious" movie... that look really goes well with Japanese cars. I think European cars look better with subtle accents.

I am going for that flat, Matte Army colored green I just think that will completely change the appearance of the car. Actually (Spoiler Alert) If I plastidip the whole car thats what I am going to do!

i'm going to buy some of the spray cans of plastidip today.. Hopefully we will have some decent weather so I can do some test products soon.

I really want to try plastidipping a whole car, but I still haven't seen one that I really liked. If yours turns out well, it might be an inspiration...

I've always hated plastidip. Then I saw it on a friend's Lancer Ralliart (he did the stock wheels in black) and it didn't look half bad. Even up close looks pretty much like matte paint. IDK how it would look on a BMW, but the good part is that it isn't permanent

I painted my diffuser black with satin gloss clear. You'll be happy once it's black and not that weird gray color.

Thats what i'm thinking, I cannot stand that gross Grey, I feel it makes the car look so cheap. These cars are supposed to look classy yet pack a punch like Mike Tyson IMO!!

I am also thinking of jumping on the Plasti Dip wagon. I want to do my diffuser in gloss black. This should be possible with their black plus their "Glossifier"

I want it to match my gloss emblems.

I also may do the wheels in silver or gunmetal. I think it will like nice on my Space Gray.

Well, as I am typing this I am undergoing plastidip experiment #1, Matte black Grille.

The wife is very understanding and I convinced her that it is "removable" So i grabbed some poster board, and began dipping the grille pieces right on the kitchen floor because it's too cold in the garage! She did however mention something about "murder" if any got on the tile so I am treading lightly!!

Anyway, back to the project:

So far it looks good. I am not 100% sure how i feel about the consistency of the product but it seems to be thick and effective. The grille is a tough first product because of its weird lines. I am on the 3rd coat and am looking to do one or two more depending on the coat. I will post pictures as I complete the project.

Pictures of the process, as well as completed product... almost, I'm going to install first thing in the morning more pictures to come.
As you can see it is very "thick" and "heavy" which it is, however it does feel and seem like a very well mannered product. Although you must properly clean the tip of the can (if you use the can) very thoroughly or else it will come out very inconsistent on the next coat. Let me know what you think!!!

I noticed that!! I ended up using the last of the can on both pieces by doing a nice thick even coat. It looks much better now, and it really changed the look of the car!

Completed: Don't mind the Frost, it was the coldest its been all year all two days of it!!!

Just remember the more coats you spray on the easier it is to get off. Your grills look good though!

Thank you! Also its a lot easier to stomach $5.98 for a can of plastidip compared to minimum $70.00 for an aftermarket grille!!!
