Vert top care and maintenance

hello everyone,,I have to park my 2011 'vert outside (until I go back to the US next summer) what product should I use to maintain it like new?

Should I go with that BMW convertible "kit" they sell?? $100.00???
or is ther something else thats better??

should I get a cleaner or a waterproofer or what???

so far only a couple of birds have crapped on it,,,I try not to park under trees
especially pine trees,,,I remove the crap immediately but it rains alot here too,,,,What does everyone use?
thanks!

Raggtopp

The only product I've used (and would recommend) on my BMW ragtops is Raggtopp.
Use Raggtopp cleaner to clean the top, and Raggtopp fabric protectant to protect it.
The protectant will last thru quite a few washings and you'll know when to reapply when the water stops beading on the roof.
I haven't been able to buy the stuff up here in Canada, but I've always been able to buy it online.
Google is your best friend.

I also use Raggtop, once a year. I bought a kit which has several years of cleaner but only one treatment worth of the water repellant. When I wash the rest of the car, I just hose off the top. And when I vacumn the interior I also vacumn the top. I spot clean things like bird droppings.

I park it in a garage when I am not driving it. If I had to park it outside all the time, I would think hard about a cover.

Well I have thought about a cover,,,but I'm not sure how it would work
with the light snowfall and freezing rain and such,,it really sucks big time
to see it out there all wet and crappy....

Anyway I just ordered the Raggtopp kit and a hogshair brush and a spot cleaner for the bird poop,,,,,best I can do for now I guess
Thanks fellas!

I've tried both Raggtopp or 303 Protectant, and both will work well. If you use a cover on the car, there is a likelihood that the cover will reduce the effectiveness (rub off) of the protectant. You'll notice spots where the cover meets the canvas will bead less. But I suppose that's better than bird poop directly on the canvas.

How does the Raggtop product compare to BMW's kit of soap and protectorant?

My mom has a 09' 128i cabrio that she got new....and she's been using the Porsche ragtop products since day 1. Great stuff. My dad uses it on his E46 M3 cabrio.
I've used it once & it IS very effective. The BMWCCA guys in my chapter recommend it.

I already have a new-in-box kit of 303 rag top stuff that I will use for my personal use, but I may just have to get my own Porsche stuff later
