OT: Parking in Sydney
Hi guys
I know it is normal to pay $$$$$$ in Sydney for parking, but anyone know where's the cheapest place to park around cirular quay around lunch time on a Friday? We'll be picking a car up from the airport and heading to the hunter after lunch.

no where its sydney friday lunch time.
maybe talk to the people at the restaurant you will be lunching at, if you know that already, they may have a space for you if your going to drop a hundred or so on lunch. parking stations charge 20 for the first hour, 18 the next. or you could drive around forever and fluke a street spot for a bit less but every where in the cbd is a loading zone now. i get the feeling you don't like paying to park sparoz |

Agree.
But if you are doing Friday lunch at the Quay, and not taking people in your car, best to park at Milson's Point near the Sydney Flying Squadron and get the train over the bridge. Otherwise you'll be paying through your nose |

1-2 hrs =$41, still cheaper than catching than 2 people on the airport link. We know the spots in Brisbane, thought there might be spots in Sydney .
Is there street parking at Milsons point?

there used to be spots in the cbd but thats all long gone, if your willing to travel then try the area below the catherdral in woolloomooloo. Its about a 10 minute walk through hyde park, down market st to cockle bay, i can usually park in or around cathedral st, its also one of the last places close to the city thats free on weekends! i'll probably never get a park there again now. look up google maps: cathedral st, woolloomooloo, NSW |

Train isn't an ordeal at all.
Get on, get off at the next stop. You're 5 minutes walk from Circular Quay. At least you won't have the ordeal of perhaps not finding a park (Friday lunch time CBD - ouch), or paying for parking (also an ouch) in a parking lot... |

Living in Hicksville, WA has it's benefits I guess. Nevertheless - I got whacked $25 for 2 hours in a hotel carpark a couple of weeks back while attending a product training seminar. Won a $100 door prize though.........

Check out the parking at the Domain, pretty cheap. I think its $15 for the entire day for early bird rates.
If you don't want to walk, you'll always get a park at Chifley Tower. |

Thanks guys, unfortunately, I can't get a table at Quay so I would be driving straight to hunter. I thought two weeks out for a lunch would be plenty of time... ah well, I will book as soon as I know I am going to Sydney next time.
Just saw their website and they are booked out till Feb 2011 for Friday night and April 2011 for Saturday night - crazy.

Do you have an amex charge card? (gold or above) call them and see if they can fit u in under that, top end places always have a few tables aside for AMEX (use to work for them)

Sparoz, not sure if you use iPhone. If so, this Free App might be helpful especially when one travels around Australia and New Zealand:
<http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/cheap-parking/id372387923?mt=8> If you don't use iPhone, I think the same information can be found on the internet directly at: <http://www.carparking.info> |
