Car is at the dealer for 4-10 second cranks in the morning...

And meeting w/ the SA, I can tell that they are going to try and pin it on "bad gas" and charge me $124.95 for the diagnosis...

Hopefully it works out to be the HPFP (again)

That's complete BS. It's astounding to me that the dealers are still trying to pass fuel pump problems off as other things.

Bad gas is a cop out.

The last time I took my car in for the HPFP they checked my gas. Funny thing is that tell that it was BP, from the formulation? They just do a pressure check and then send you on your way.

Was your SES light on yet or did you just have long cranks? They couldn't possibly try to charge you for diagnosis if your SES light was on could they?

Why would you incur any charges? Its part of the warranty isn't it?

That's what we like to hear (well, sort of...at least they fixed it)

Take a a look at the repair order and tell us what the part number is on the pump. I'm interested to see if the rumor is true about there being a new HPFP part number going into service!

My SA just told me you "cannot get a new hpfp unless you have a CEL". Did you have one? Cause mine is dying and they wont give me a new one.

There's a rumor from someone who works in a dealership that they were directed to remove the 881 pumps from the shelf and replace them with the new one.

Where are you getting your information?

If I want my long cranking fuel pump to hurry and die, should I buy non top-tier gas?

I don't see how they can possibly hold it against the customer for "bad gas." I for one was not given a list of brands that are on an "acceptable list/unacceptable list" when I signed for the car...only a warning by my salesman to "only use Premium," which I do.

Just saw you're in MD, what dealer are you dealing with? Just some forewarning in case I ever deal with this and I'd know who not to take it to.

RealOEM still shows the part number as the one ending in 881, nothing new listed there yet.
