Best Mods for Low End Power?

What are the best mods to increase low end power (Idle to 4000 rpm)? I already have the Dinan Stage 2 but don't know were to go next. I don't want a bunch of power adders that only show up above 4500 rpm.

If you have a manual 135i, your best bet is 3.46 gears with LSD!

I have the Dinan S2 as well and I don't want any more low end torque. I can barely keep the power to the ground as is. Above 5-6k rpms is where the car feels really lazy. I'd prefer a bit more HP in the higher rpms where all the fun is at.

That was why I suggested a limited slip diff. Quaife, Wavetrac or anything to put power to both wheels.

Hopefully one of these days I'll be at your shop getting this done.

I agree that the car has a lot of torque right off the line but once your rolling at 15-20mph I think it could handle more from that point on with some sticky 255 or 265 rubber. I just don't want to concentrate on adding power in an rpm range that you can't really use in every day driving...I'd LOVE to have more cubic inches but i'm asking about existing mods that won"t cost as much as a new car

The other thing I don't know about is how additional mods would affect or be affected by the Dinan tune, I mean as you add intakes and exhausts, mid pipes, down pipes, better intercoolers wouldn't the tune need to be revised to really see maximum gains? would the Dinan correct for these on it's own?

I'll second this. Out of all my mods this has made the biggest difference in the low end I would say. And it's so fun to just rip through the gears now. If you're going to do it talk to Harold @ HP Autowerks too, he was very helpful.

Other than that I've noticed better response with my DDV kit, so any of the kits with a hard charge pipe and either DVs or a BOV should give you the same gain.

just curious...how much should an install for a quaife LSD cost from a mechanic shop? How many hours of labor?
