I don't see how you guys kill pads in a day or two...., I have over 20 laps on the ring and my Pagid pads are a champ, tail braking and late hard braking. Mmay sessions when I go I got lap so 18-20 mins are a time let her cool off and back on again.

I heard that PFC are ready to produce the pads but are waiting for backing plates from their provider.

ETA is June 13, and then they will start shipping.

The latest update I have is that they will be ready to ship next week. PFC pushed these back again and are closed all week this week

At least we KNOW that this is actually happening and the pads will be here eventually. Still a little frustrating.

No love from PFC for the 135i folks.
They were supposed to produce these weeks ago.
Excuses excuses all the time ...
Maybe if we are lucky we will see PFC pads before the 2014 lapping season ends ...

I went ahead an ordered more Carbotechs. I'll probably wait now till I replace my rotors to switch to the PFCs. Carbotechs are working out nicely, although I do with they would last a bit longer.

How have the Carbs worn? I drove a buddy of mine's FRS with XP10 F/R and I was impressed. He has two HPDE on them, a few autoX and street miles. I'm running the Hawk DTC70/60, and they have actually worn pretty well. 3 HPDE, ~6 AutoX, a lot of canyon runs, and whatever odd street miles I put on the car, and they still look around ~75% just eyeballing it.

My Carbo XP-10 did not fare so well on the track.
I got brake fade half way through my sessions (after 10-12 minutes of lapping). They might be allright for lighter cars, or maybe the stronger compounds (XP12 and above) fare better for any lightly modded 135i's.

I got a recommendation for Project Mu Club Racer pads, and they are outstanding for my setup. No more brake fade on the track with fat Extreme Performance tires (255/35R18 Dunlop ZII square setup), wider wheel up front (18X8.5) which limits cooling from bumper brake ducts, and Cobb stage 1 agressive map (more speed /inertia to bring to a halt).

Are you running the DTC60/70 pads full time (track and street)?
Is the dust corrosive and sticking to your wheels and body panels?

I ran my Carbotech XP10 full time, and also my Project Mu Club Racer pads, but I hit the track almost on a weekly basis, and dont daily drive the car. So minimal noise re-appears when the pad layer wears off the rotor, after about a week of street use...

I use wheel protector spray to ease the cleaning and help prevent dust from staining the wheel finish. I use good quality wax on the body panels to prevent the dust from sticking (Collinite Wax).

I run XP 12s up front 10s in the rear. After 5 track days I think the fronts have 1 more day left in em. The rears have plenty of life. The 12s up front are definitely better choice for our cars. 10s are are fine for the rear. 10s lasted me 3 track days when I had em up front. I do want the try out the PFC 08s next year, hopefully get more life out of em then my Carbotechs.

Yes, and no. I can see some of the clearcoat etching off the wheels, especially on the backside/barrel. I haven't thoroughly cleaned my track wheels in some time, so the jury is out on that. From 5 feet, they look fine, finish is still glossy over all (APEX ARC8, ymmv).

Paint work is fine. Claybar ~2x/year, and maintenance waxing when necessary. The paint work tends to get brake dusted, but certainly no damage, I would not stand for that. To be frank, the brake dust is sort of "sticky" or tacky, so it requires an extra pass over when washing, but the finish is smooth, and the fenders don't retain contaminants much more so than any other panel, IMO.

Noise is hit or miss with my Hawks. Sometimes at low pedal pressure, when warm, but not hot, they squeal, and other times they are completely silent. It's been a while since they made any noise though, so I would consider noise a non-factor.

Not sure if it's because it's a 70/60 split, but once warmed up, they bite HARD. The stock suspension does not sufficiently cope with this, i.e. I get a LOT of brake dive, which tends to overwork the fronts during lapping days. If you have a better balanced suspension, this is a non-issue.

Lots of people run the Hawk HP+ and DTC's at a local track, but mostly on lighter and less powerful cars. Ive been avoiding them, but might eventually give them a try based on your feedback.

All I can say is I finally found my fade-resistant brake pads matched to my tire adherance and overall car setup and weight. The Project-Mu Club Racer pads I now have on the car are wearing nicely (60% thickness left after 5 track days), have a lot of gradual and consistent bite and zero fade throughout my sessions, even on high speed and hilly tracks such as Tremblant (LCMT).

I myself do get suspension diving on stock springs and dampers, and fatter/stickier 255/35R18 tires up front.

With my new Project Mu RC-09 Club Racer pads, I gained confidence in my braking capacity and shaved off 2-3 seconds/lap at two tracks I visit often. One track is a 1.7Km and the other is 3.4Kms long.

Where did you acquire the project mu pads from?

I ran Ferodo DS2500 this season, they lasted about 6 - 7 track days before giving up the ghost. They took my stock rotors with them too.

My mechanic was strongly suggesting I consider Hawk DTC70/60 (which I thought to combine with Ti shields to get the heat up) but I opted to go back to stock for the last 2 days of my season.

For next year I guess my options are Hawk DTC70/60, Endless ME20 or these Project Mu you speak of.

Ive been running 0.5mm Ti shields ever since I hit the track a year ago, and the white BMW logo on my front calipers has just started to turn yellow after a few track event with the Project Mu pads. My calipers probably reach higher temperatures as my lap times are now 2-3 seconds faster with these pads as they inspire confidence.

I was recommended these pads by speed-freaks.net as an alternative to the PCF 08 pads. Its no mystery that PFC keep missing their target dates and Im wondering if we will ever see production of 135i pads in 2014!!!

Can I ask a quick question? I am new here but have been tracking a 911 for many years. Have tried a lot of pads , I havent seen anyone mention Porterfield or Raybestos? The R4 and R4S(street) are amazing but have not tried on my 135. If you want the same grip with half the pedal pressure needed, Raybestos are incredible IMHO. Not sure about wear on bmw rotors. Thanks! This forum is awesome!
