Killer Audio Upgrade in works
Well thanks to some of the great post on here from mineo77, VP Electricity, jtsherri, TPLSM3 and others I have decided to make my 1st major mod, on my 1 month old 135, the audio system. It started it off as a custom ensclosure from TPLSM3 and a JL 10w6 to an entire overhaul. I finally ordered the final pcs last night to complete the below list.
Speakers Components - Zappco Competition CK-10.2 Mids under seat - Morel ADMW 9" Subwoofer - Morel Ultimo SC10 Custom Enclosure from TPLSM3 Amps Zapco DC360.4 Zapco DC1000.4 Zapco DRC-SL Dash Controller The plan will be to use the DC360.4 for the components active (4x50w) and run the DC1000.4 to the mids (2x150w) and the other to channels bridged to the sub (1x500W). VP Electricity has been a ton of help trying to figure this out, he also got me some great prices on alot of the pcs above along with the adapter rings for the 4" & 9", which should make the install a lot quicker. Once I get all the components and start the project I will get pictures and install details up. To say the least I cant wait to get this started. |

After the last 2 weekends everything is done except trunk floor due to the rain today. Spent several hrs playing with the tuning so far and it is sounding great, still have alot to learn with all the tuning the Zapco's allow. I changed the speakers to all Morel due to a great deal on the HO components and ease of install.
Speakers Components - Morel Hybrid Ovations Mids under seat - Morel ADMW 9" Subwoofer - Morel Ultimo SC10 Custom Enclosure from TPLSM3 Amps Zapco DC360.4 Zapco DC1000.4 Zapco DRC-SL Dash Controller Amp Rack Build (simular to what musicarNW did for pinternational) |

Door Components, the mounting rings supplied by musicarNW were a perfect fit and made the install cake.

New Wire Routing for Doors, I thought this may be helpful for any trying to route new wires to the door. Ken recommended using the shielded 16/4 speaker cable stocked at home depot, which worked great. I remove the jumper that runs between the body and door and routed wires as shown below.

Underseat Speakers, Again Mounting Rings supplied by musicarNW made install much easier that try to fab something. Only mod required was grinding the ribs of the enclosure flat to fit the morel, caustion do not use too long of screw or you will crack the ring.

Factory Amp and Wiring Guides, I used the hacked symbilink method with 1 cable from rears ran to the DC1000.4 for the Sub and 1 cable with Y adapter to DC1000.4 for the under seat subs and the other to the DC360.4 for the components. None of the wiring diagrams matched my color codes from the HU to the Factory Amp so I modified the below to match my car. Also the Factory amp was mounted below the sub location in the left re quater of the trunk.

So far no engine noise, chime is managable and no rattles from anything in the interior. I sent my Zapco DC settings to Ken at MusicarNW to take a quick look to see what he thinks of what I came up with on my own so far. The tunablitity of the Zapco parameters are much beyond what I expected and becomes very quick to make changes through the PC. Now I have to educate myself on all the parameters and how to use them. I had to hang it up for the day due to my ears ringing from all the playing around.

Very nice install. I am sure you will be very happy with the end result. I have just recently installed a Zapco DC650, morel fronts and amdw9 underseats. The tuning can be paramount. I am very happy so far. However, I maybe question my purchase of the Dotech fronts vs. the Hybrids. Maybe it could sound even better...

A true rookie mistake.
So after playing with things for a few weeks I was still not happy with the sound, I knew I had a problem but could not figure it out. I finally broke down and ordered the Audiosound 2000 tuning CD Set along with a TrueRTA software, mic mate and a Behringer ECM8000 Mircophone as you will find in the below post ($200 in total). Played with the software on the home theater for a day to figure things out and went to the car. Put in a CD with Pink Noise played a few tracks to get started and I found my problem that quick, I'm not getting any Left Channel Audio, The Left Frt Speakers were playing the Right Frt Audio and the Right Frt Speakers were playing the Right Rear Audio. I had mixed up the fader and balance while trying to figure out the channel wiring from the head unit originally and miss wired the symbilink cables, Fader adjust Frt to Back and Balance adjust L to R, I assumed the opposite. The Pink Noise tracks with dedicated channels made this easy to find. Now I have to rewire Symblilink cables and retune. The TrueRTA software looks like it will be really helpful getting the tuning done correctly, played around with it a little prior to tearing things back apart, I deffiantly had a few peaks and valleys to tune out. I did correct the wiring diagram above and verified with a digital multi meter and test speaker this time to make sure. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...-100-dlls.html |

I noticed I never posted finished pictures of my truck, Its has been done for almost a year now but here is the outcome.
Notice I used one the factory under seat speaker grills as a flush mount vent for the amps, also on the passenger side it is open and vented into the cargo net stowage area Made it two pieces so still maintains easy acces to the battery and tool storage area. I also added the morel emblems to the door speakers which I think added just enough Overall very pleased with the sound and how things having been holding up.
