New, and Loving it

Hey guys, just wanted to formally introduce myself. I recently picked up an 08 135i Sedona Red M package equipped, and I am truly amazed with this vehicle.

Since this is my first time owning a BMW, I was wondering about maintenance. Car proof shows that the previous owner kept the car in mint condition, taking it into the dealership for regular maintenance. I want to continue this trend, but I usually do my own oil changes. I was wondering how much the dealership would normally charge for an oil change, just to gauge pros and cons of regular maintenance on this car.

do it yourself

Me too, 08 Sedona Red but 128 bought in April. My warranty/maintenance runs out July 2012 so I get 1 free oil change. Dealers have fixed prices for oil changes and I think 1 & 3 series are about $125. Recommend you DIY as you have done before, and twice a year, Spring and Fall. I'll be doing my 1st oil change soon before I put the car up for the winter. Castrol 0W-30 for now b/c I have it. May change to Mobile 1 0W-40 afterwards. Bought the oil filter cap removal tool at Bav Auto, also oil filter. Visit www.bavauto.com and sign up for their free catalogues and Fast Times.

Thanks!

Found out 132 + HST. I bought mine used, but the car still has it's maintenance warranty. I think the number 80,000 kms was used in that conversation. Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether the warranty stays with the vehicle, or is voided once owners switch.

Can someone please confirm?

Warranty should stay with the vehicle, regardless of ownership changes.

If you bought this from the dealer, they should have informed you of the remaining months until your warranty expires.

If you bought the car privately, a simple walk-in to your local BMW dealership with your key should help further confirm.
