+1, we'll find out when someone gets their car.

As far as I know, here in Chicago,IL the only audio upgrade is the Premium HI-FI for $875, which includes better speakers, 2 small subs and DSP, 10 speakers total. Nothing about Logic7 available on the 135i here.

The Premium HI-FI in the USA consists of 4-1.5" tweeters, 4-4" mid/woofers, 2-8" subwoofers under the front seats, all with metal cones, with a 300 watt multi channel DSP amp, all made by Harmon Kardon. The Logic7 I believe is a real surround system like found in the Acura TLS system. I will have to compare the standard 135i audio to the $875 Premium HI-FI because it might be worth the extra $$$. 2-8" subs under the front seats alone is worth $3-400. And upgraded metal cone tweeters and mid/woofers along with a better amp should sound much better then the standard system. I HOPE.

That I don't know? I will take a few of my favorite CD's to the dealer when they come in to compare. I hope they have 1 with and 1 without the Premium HI-FI.

The basic audio system is listed as having 10 speakers also, so one might assume that includes subwoofers also... :iono:

Don't assume anything based on printed matter from BMW. ; -)

We know it's a car, we believe it has four wheels and runflat tires. Seems to have four seats. But everything beyond that seems to have had some sort of conflciting info . . .

The ragtop at the Chicago auto show has rear speakers in it. It is the only car I have seen to have them. I don't see anything different about the head unit. Do you ?

I sat in a new 135i yesterday and only saw 4 speakers up front, 2 on the back deck, and 2 subs under the seats. Thats 8, so I don't know whats up. It didn't have the Premium hi-fi option.

In Australia the next step up from base unit is "premium" then the next step is "Professional" (logic 7).

FWIW my military sales build sheet specified the car comes with the "professional" head unit standard. and the Logic 7 is included with the "premium hifi" option...take it with a grain of salt!

HK owns lexicon, so they are essentially the same compnay... Lexicon is the premium audiophile HIFI line, HK is mass market HIFI line.

Having read through this thread we obviously don't know for sure what the US is getting... All I can say in the HK systems in the prior 3 series BMW have been good but lacking some low end, add a couple of 8" and it should sound very good and worth the upgrade... So although I would love the L7 system a HK system is not going to be bad, and far better than the crap Bose and others use in cars.

I asked my CA today about the Logic 7 and he's looking into it, but he did say that if it is NOT a Logic 7 system, then I cannot upgrade it to a Logic 7 regardless of its availability elsewhere in the world, FWIW.

FWIW, my CA called again today. He got in contact with someone over at the VPC who contacted someone else at BMWNA I believe, and the response my CA got was that the 135 system is NOT a Logic7 system - it's a BMW branded system. Also, because of the BMW brand, the guy didn't know who the manufacturer was. (He also had to throw in that it also costs "considerably less" than the Logic7 systems).

Bottom line is that I'm fully expecting some sort of non-Logic7 in the Bimmer. I just hope it's worth a f'in $875 upgrade.
