the 1 series has zero space as we know so if I remove the knob from the drc, its only 4 solder points, and hollow out the bmw knob, then place the bit one knob in the bmw I drive and put it in the factory location. voila.. that takes care of that, then the display is very easy to detach from the housing, just extend the cable around 6 ft. bring the display up to the rear view mirror, now open the mirror,, this is tricky, I heated it up slightly in the oven to loosen the plastic,, cold plastic BREAKS, it seperates with a little patience,, now my mirror is non-dimming so lots of room in the housing, I masked off a square area where the display is to be and scratched off the nickel plating with a razor blade... once done I put a piece of mirror tint over where I scratched.. and placed the display in its new home.. a little c/a glue holds it in place.. a little more to reseal the mirror and a perfect home for the new display...
