Intake Recommendation?
I had the AFE cold air intake and I liked it however it's pretty expensive (~500USD). Does anyone know of any comparisons or indepth reviews?

On stock turbos there is bugger all if any difference from the stock airbox.
If you come across a second hand one maybe but don't rush out and get one. You will see no difference in power. |

Not on stock turbos, the factory airbox is perfectly suited as the factory inlets restrict the flow not the filter.
When I get my inlets I want to go back to stock airbox and will be testing this against the afe dual cone intake. I had mr5 and ditched it in favour of the dual cones no power difference what so ever. Last edited by martymil; 07-19-2015 at 05:17 AM.. |

I went from stock to mr5 the dyno curves where identical and I said stuff this and went dual cone afe and was exactly the same again.
I will be having a big sale of performance parts very soon just waiting for my nephew to bring some parts back from the U.S on Wednesday for me. Never know the dual cone might be up for sale. |

Temperature plays almost no part prior to the turbo. You could have a 5 degree difference in intake temp (unlikely. remember the intakes route around a hot engine/engine bay to get to the turbos), that once compressed by the turbo, becomes identical.
Focus on decreasing temps post turbo with an effective IC, meth and e85. |

if we had NA cars, intake temps would play slightly more of a part.
Given how turbos work, and the related heat introduced as a result, either stick with stock, or go a cheap DCI solution. Throwing hundreds of dollars at it is money wasted that could have been better spent of actual performance increasing mods. |

BMS DCIs were USD95 from what I remember (3 or 4 years ago now...). Given they are short rams, your IATs would be quite a bit higher compared to the stock airbox.
But you can fix that with a bigger FMIC and....methanol injection. Worked for me.
