Burning oil/ blue smoke

Ok, I just did a bunch of work, walnut blast, fmic, dp, exhaust, occ, oil change.
Now it's burning oil and I get blue smoke when I putt around without boost. I stop at a light and a patch of smoke floats by. But when I drive the shit out of it there is no smoke when I stop at a light.

Any recommendations?

Cat less, it went from full to 3/4 full oil indication in about 100 miles.

Turbo seals could be bad or head gasket may be leaking. May need to check on those and check on the head gasket to see if you see any oil stains.

You were probably leaking before but only can see the problem now because you went catless.

I'm burning >0.5L of oil every 1000kms. I have no resorted to putting the car in neutral every time I need to coast more than 30m otherwise I generate a huge amount of smoke.

You will see more smoke when you go catless. alot of people have this problem as soon as the go catless. How many mile are on your car right now? you might wanna check if you have a leaky oil filter housing gasket or leaky valve cover gasket that might be the reason why your losing some much oil.

As for the smoke from the car take the reading of your cooling fluid and see if it drops down, if so you might have a bad head gasket. if that checks out then i'll start looking a your turbo seals.

Car has 67k on the clock, no visible oil leaks. I will take a look at the catch can to see if the oil is in there. I hope it went to the catch can. I don't like the smoking so I might put the mid pipe back on at a later date. Anyone know of a place to get replacement turbo cartridges?

Or if you buy the kit to rebuild them are the turbo splines keyed so the compressor wheels only go on one way?

go get ur turbos replaced at the dealer under warranty. I'm sure they rattle as well. The early model turbos have problems. I used to have smoking and rattly wastegates but I got them replaced for free at the dealer and all is well now.

Well I did. But my BMW dealer is mod friendly. I was really suprised they were willing to change them out with all my mods on there. I would take all yours off though just to be sure.

Talked to. The dealer and since there are no codes then no free replacement turbos.
I ordered some stage 1 turbos from Vargas, I wanted new oem but the rear can not be found. Now the dreaded r&r

Let us know how the stg1 turbos work out, i'm interested to see if there are any differences over the long haul.

I was wondering who else was in line for those. Tony contacted me and said he just had a rush order of stage 1s for 135is so mine might take a little to be shipped out. I'm playing the wait game now too

For the cost of stock rebuilds they can't be beat, IMO
Bigger compressor and clipped turbine with upgraded waste gate valve! Granted it still has the 03 shaft but who cares, it's a weekend play car anyway.

The lack of changes to the exhaust side make me a bit skeptical of power gains. But for sure, the upgraded wear parts should be nice, and like you said for the price it's solid value. I was going to hop on RBs in a few days, but then someone decided to back into my car at work and not leave any info. So now I get to direct all that money towards a new bumper cover, a leaky VC gasket, AT tranny flush, and some other crap. Ugh.

I still may get the RBs though lol
