Driving up a driveway

Do you tend to drive up a driveway a little sideways to avoid scraping the front? When you do drive up a little sideways, is it possible that you might scrape the undercariage or the area that is under the car, in between the front and rear tires, where the jack points are?

Scraping the front is inevitable. I just wanted to know what is the best way to try to avoid scraping anything. Some driveways are just steep. This 7Eleven that I frequent a lot is one of them.

i know what u mean, my driveway at home is REALLY steep. i always drive over it sideways or else it will definatly scrape. i have scraped the undercarriage a few times by accident but i dont think its anything serious. i think the biggest key is to go over driveways very slowly

Might be an idea to play it safe, no? Thus far I haven't had and scraping issues BUT it is inevitable, I suppose.

That said the car looks great from the front so low with sports suspension. Just take it slow as well and be as ready as you can be for any speed bumps that may cause grief.

Take care

I've already scraped the front of my car a few times. After agonizing over it , it doesn't bother me anymore , since I don't peek under the front everyday.

Why cant they coat the underneath of the front bumper with some sort of material that doesn't scrape ? ( Like maybe a silicon coating ? )

I've installed multiple layers of 8mil 3m clear paint protection film that I cut into strips. it helps , and acts as a barrier for underneath the lower front spoiler/bumper against light driveway scratches. Very easy to install and remove.

Sorry for digging this thread up from the grave but I finally learned how to post pics. This is what happened to my E90 after I clipped a curb:

i have the standard 325i suspension. Im assuming this isnt as low as the sports tuned one (maybe by an inch or 2?) so im not too worried. You will scrape the bottom of anything except a suv sooner or later...all it takes is one good road bump or pothole.

I don't know, I think 20's are toooo big for the E90. How is the ride on those suckers?

with sport package, it is bound to happen. Best medicine to your problem is "don't drive the car".
