Tiny hole in the barrel of my wheel?!? Anyone else have this happen?
Was about to leave yesterday morning to get my cars service done and noticed my tire looked low. Checked it out and sure enough it was at 20PSI. I put air in the tires last weekend because they were all a little low so it took it a little less than a week to get down to 20 PSI. I put air in it and ran down to discount tire figuring I had something in the tire. They came back and said I had a pin hole leak in the barrel of the rim. Anyone ever have this happen to them or hear of this? What causes it??? The wheels are the Old VB3 VMRs and where on the car when I purchased it. I must add there were pretty chewed up when I got them so no telling what they had been through. Decided to go ahead and order 4 new V703 in same matte black finish so they should be here at the end of next week.
Picture sucks and doesnt show the hole but the chalk square is where its at. I washed car yesterday and you could see it bubbling when water was going over it. |

While not super common pin holes do happen from time to in cast wheels, usually it is caused from bubbles in the casting. Wheel would be considered defective and it should be covered under warranty. Most manufacturers will 1 year or more against workmanship and finish.

The only thing I can think of is like you mentioned the whole might of been there from casting but when they put the flat black on it, it filled in the hole. Over time must of finally worked its away through |
