Hope you got those covers on just right, or we'll be seeing yet ANOTHER 'Hey guys, I washed my car and now my headlights don't work!' thread...

Word of warning to those with active headlights - avoid the LED setups with ballasts.

The LED's themselves didn't throw any electrical codes but they interfered with the movement of the active headlights.

Mate, GP Thunders are $15USD or $25USD shipped to your door from E92-lighting. Reliable vendor and the product is the exact same thing. Installed mine sometime last year.

IMO, the bulbs are pretty average in quality therefore I wasn't willing to pay more than 30 bucks for them. They aren't any brighter (like HID or LED options) just a different colour.

I knew I could get them cheaper. I willingly chose to pay the extra to buy from someone in Australia and get them fast. Also to have an easier warranty if needed.

I've had bad experiences trying to do international warranty in the past - even as recently as a month ago with Schmiedmann in Denmark - who everyone says are fantastic to deal with. (not my experience)

My choice.

Wasn't looking for brighter - the colour change was all I wanted.

Looks great Angus - your car you can do as you please

I have 7500's in mine and you can still clearly see them during the day....I probably should have gone 8500 though as I feel it would have been a better match for the door handle lights.

Thanks. Was originally gonna go with 7500k but they only had the 8500k in stock. Happy I did though because as you said, they match the door lights really well...

PS: How'd you go with your tint?

Please do tell. Ordered from them multiple times and was great. Didn't have to deal with any issues afterwards so I have no idea about aftersales.

Bought the Alpine Audio Kit from them.

Firstly, their terms state that you won't be charged for an "out of stock" product until they receive the stock and are in a position to send it. WRONG. They charged my card the SECOND I completed checkout. Doesn't really bother me but they broke their own terms of service.

The kit arrived about 3 weeks later. One of the tweeters was damaged.

I emailed them immediately with the above photo. There was no damage to the packaging so most likely did not happen in transit.

Heard nothing from them for a week. Went to the site. Spent quite some time looking around for their warranty terms.

YOU HAVE TO REQUEST AN RMA NUMBER, COMPLETE A FORM, PRINT THE FORM, AND THEN PAY TO SEND THE WHOLE PACKAGE BACK TO THEM IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING WITH THE FORM.

You then wait while they assess the damage and decide whether or not to provide warranty. If yes then they will send you a new package. If no then you have to pay to get the damaged one sent back to you.

I decided to just order a single tweeter from my Dealer instead but I will not be buying anything else from Schmiedmann.

Makes sense, the problem with warranty never occurred to me but you have a very valid point. It just didn't worry me when the bulb was ~20 bucks when I shared shipping with SBC, so I considered it more of a novelty mod than anything serious.

Bad experiences with overseas vendors definitely puts you off! Therefore other parts for my car that I've ordered are all local. PROcede was bought in Sydney, and I just ordered my KW V1s from southernbm. Can't risk going through the trouble of off shore warranty with such important items.

The colour change isn't as drastic as they make you believe, but it's definitely noticeable. IMO, it definitely helps to get rid of the yellowness and looks especially good on AW cars (like Harlequin and yourself).

Those shots I believe HAVE been put through some post processing, so I dug up some unaltered photos of my car from the recent MDTC track day

Ouch, unfortunate to hear that mate. After that experience I can totally understand wanting to go local. People always rave on about jbspeed too, but my personal experience wasn't top notch like others. I suppose there are good ones and bad ones! Despite a second round of shipping costs did it still work out cheaper then going all from dealer? And how much did they charge for 1 tweeter? At least your Alpine upgrade worked..... mine failed miserably
