over 4000 miles across the US and not one 1M

Just completed a drive across the US (East to West coast) and did not come across 1 1M the entire 4500 plus mile drive, we started in Manhatton, down to DC, up to Cleveland, on to Chicago then hit route66 and HWY's making our way across to LA and finishing up in San Fran via PCH and nope not 1 in sight........

Just shows how exclusive the 1M is per head of population and size of country, seen a few nice M3's, anyways some bloody great driving roads you have, would be my ideal run-in if I was in the US.

my experience exactly...drove over 3000 miles around Charleston SC, Savannah GA, Atlanta GA, Dallas TX, San Antonio TX, and Pensacola FL...not one 1M and only a few 135s...most bimmers I saw were 3 series and most were older models.

I did the math and at 680 cars for the US population, that's 1 car in almost 500,000 people....pretty exclusive in my book.

Dallas would have been your best shot.. about 9-11 cars here.... and eventually there will be 16 or more.

I made the same trip (except from north of you - Ontario) and detouring from Flagstaff over the Hover Dam and Vegas then Napa Valley and over to the coast then down to LA. in my then sDrive Z4 35i, same results I did not see the same car once

I guess in both our cases folks are hard at work while we had the driving fun

I'm checking out you fellows over here I hear the 1M is a fine automobile.

LOL. I was leaving my gym a couple weeks ago and I saw a BSM--and then spoke with the owner. The allocations for Oregon were 2 BSM's at Kuni, 1 BSM to BMW Portland, my AW (from BMW Portland), and 1 car each to Salem and Eugene. There may have been one to Bend, but I'm not sure. The final BSM from BMW Portland isn't even here yet.

Yeah, I live in Southern California and I have yet to see a 1M. And I've seen an F10 M5 mule and the new F12 M-Sport on the road before its official debut.

I just got back from a month in France. I actually saw a VO 1M in Beaune, a small town in Burgundy. And I was always looking but it was the only one I saw in @3000 miles of driving.

(over here in Germany land of the 1M's...) Other than when I was at the M Festival at the Ring (back in June) when I saw 10, 1M's that day... I have only seen one 1M (AW with "EBE" tags) while just down the street from BMW's FIZ in Munich. I have seen quite a few prototypes and prodction 1M's at Garching - and a few being delivered at the Welt... but those don't count in my book. The only real, on the street 1M's - I have seen has been that AW "EBE" tag'd 1M and "M3_Adjuster"s BSM 1M.

Not surprised! That car is so limited and so few of them came to the US. Here in CA in some areas where there is a LOT of $ you will see a fair bit of very expensive and pretty rare cars (as in M3s or M5s or 911s or Roush or Saleens are so numerous they don't even count as 'rare') and you see a fair bit of 1 series, and I have yet to see a 1M .... and I'm looking!

I did see a very sweet 2002 Turbo a few weeks ago though!

Nice mix of tuned M3's/M5's, 911 Turbos and so in in Hollywood area, interesting you mention the 2002 Turbo, I saw one in DC in presten condition.

Drive a little south, there are at least 4 1Ms in Irvine alone.

Including the first two delivered in the US.

I live in Canberra (Australia's national capital for those who care hahaha), population of a mere 300,000 and there are 3 1Ms here, another 1 or 2 to come. My wife, the owner of our 1M, actually spotted a VO car a few weeks ago whilst in hers! Pretty rare event. Imagine being spotted while spotting hahaha

When I get mine in a few weeks, there will be 3 AW 1m's within about a 5 mile radius in Canton GA. I see one of them quite often as I am leaving work. It is really making waiting tough every time I see him.

I tried to get in anywhere in OR and they were all taken up. I settled for a 335is and am happy with it.

I've only seen one 1M ever before mine, and that was a VO in Costa Mesa.

Not to thread jack, I just wanted to ask which part of the PCH was the best? I'm headed out that way and wanted to hit up the southern part of the PCH down by LA.

Thanks
