My Bavarian VTEC died

Drove my car around a bit during the day then parked it at home. Started it back up to drop my uniform off at the dry cleaner to get new stripes on and I get a CEL. I think "fuck, it's VANOs, no HPFP, maybe my turbos are dead." I freak out and set an appointment. I should have gone to Autozone to get the codes pulled, but whatever, wouldn't have done anything for me now. My SA asks me if it was the fuel cap being loose. I had just gotten gas a day or so before and felt like maybe I was being an idiot. Take it in on Saturday and they finally look at it today. Valvetronic motor died and they are replacing it.

My car's only at a little above 45k miles and already valvetronic dies. Anyone else had this problem? Hopefully I get my car back and I can start VTEC JA'ing again soon. I've been driving an X3 since saturday and it's horrifying.

My bet is your vanos bolt sheared off. Mine did and thankfully was replaced under warranty. There's a big post on this by Dackelone I believe.

There's also the massive recall regarding n55 bolts shearing as well...They haven't quite recalled the cars yet..but it has been announced.

That's what I was worried about. I've been waiting on that recall but haven't heard anything yet. I'll have to ask whenever I can go pick it up.

So now I'm at Valvetronic motor dead, two iginition coils bad and now they are replacing the DME. Week and a half in the shop. So far I've learned that I hate X3s.

I think your car must have heard you refer to it as a VTEC and this is simply the cars way of saying FU!

Kidding....That sucks man, and yes the X loaners are shit.

Im a '11 as well an always crossing my fingers being the first year of the N55 in the 135i

Atleast its under warranty

If anyone ever says CPO or extended warranty is stupid, I'll point them to this. Manufacturer warranty went out May 6th.
