N55 Oil on Charge Pipe
Hmm probably going to take this in and get looked at but just going to get some opinions on this first. What do you guys think is the cause?
Ill note that BMW did just change the oil two weeks ago. Last edited by Yeineken; 07-25-2014 at 01:14 PM.. |

Could be a leak or over spill coming from your brake fluid reservoir.

I have a bit of oil in the same exact place. A BMW master tech that does work for me on the side said the same thing about the brake fluid reservoir. If you look at the cap there is a hole in it to release break fluid if the pressure gets too high.

I track my car, and due to increased Power Steering fluid pressure, there is allways a mess close to that area after a tracking session. It is clearly visible from the side of the PS reservoir though, maybe not in your case.

I know some guys who put an old sock(with a rubber band) over the screw cap for the PS reservoir - when they do track events. This will catch the PS oil when it boils out of the reservoir. Of course that sock gets pretty nasty after awhile. Most dealer should have a UV dye kit... they could first clean off that area, then put a UV dye into your PS reservoir and see if its actually coming from there. I don't think its coming from your brake reservoir - since that is UNDER a plastic cover near the driver's firewall. I think its either an intake "charged" area - leaking under boost or it's your PS reservoir. Good Luck, Dackel
