Extended Warranty price reasonable?

Does $2060 sound reasonable for a Gold option covering 6yr/100k miles? What is the average or invoiced price amount for this package?

Thanks.

Many extras offered by the dealer are can be subject to discounts. I'm not sure what the Gold option is? Sounds like a dealer thing. You also never tell us whether it's a new car or used. If used then it may be certified??????????

i got the car new but didn't purchase the extended warranty with it initially. now i'm trying to get an extended warranty from the dealer, and the dealers are basically offering 3 options/packages of warranty covering various systems of the car (powertrain, gold, platinum). I think all the dealers are instructed to sell these 3 packages since they even have brochures printed for it and they all refer to them.

Ask for a discount, but if they are from BMW you may be out of luck. In general there are multiple packages like rim damage which definitely can be discounted.

I remember when I didn't purchase the extended warranty, the sales manager seemed he got pissed. He also mentioned about some customer paid 15K for repairing his engine cause he didn't buy the warranty. I said w/e and told him thanks but he didn't even say good bye to me lol. There is always room for discount, since they all get commission out of it.

Best options I found to pay the least amount of interest (money lost to bak), warranty, and extended maintenance.

For the interest, I save up at least 30%+ for a down payment. So I don't have to worry about gap insurance, and not paying interest on that 30% of the car.

For the Warranty, when you buy new, check with your insurance company (I have geico). They charge between $15-$60 per 6 months for a 10yr/100K warranty. The catch is you pay $250 deductible one time (i.e. if you have 2 separate problems you only pay $250 for th first problem). I found out this also covers a broken windshield too

For the extended maintenance, it is really just pre-paid, so if you plan to keep the car for more than 100K miles, fine go for it. Otherwise, from 50K-100K just pay for it. That way if something happens (sell the car, totaled, stolen, etc) you don't loose the prepaid service money.
