Good price for new 2012 135i?
Now that 2013 135i are coming into the lots what's a good price for a new 2012? A dealer offered me $1500 under invoice after a bit of haggling for a 2012. Do you guys think there is more room to negotiate here? I've not had the experience of getting an earlier model BMW. Thanks!

It is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. No one can tell you what it is worth to you.

Of course that's true I'm mostly wondering what others have done as a reference. If $1500 under invoice for a model year that is now one year down is good or if there is more room to go there. I haven't bought a new car ever before, so thats why I'm asking for some opinions here.

Ask for $2K if you can.

You should see what is BMW offering as incentive at this time. Standard price is 300 over invoice without any BMW incentive. With 1k BMW options incentive you are looking at 700 below invoice. Without any other incentives (not sure if there is anything else), the dealer is giving you 800 more. They are not losing money at this point but they want to move the car
U can't get this price on 2013! Trying to get a black car from a south bay dealer? |

What is special about a black car in South Bay? Here in Houston nobody makes a big deal about black and despite the warm sunny climate the color (or lack thereof) is very popular. My experience is unless the plan is to keep the car for a really long time, the discount on leftover import vehicles is usually not enough to make up for the difference in resale/trade in value that a model year makes. That is amplified because there is a $1000 incentive on 2013 and there was no price increase from 2012.

$1500 under invoice is pretty good, since 2013s are out and if you are planning to keep the car for 3-4 years, its a wash. If you need to switch it in 1-2 years than getting the 2013 makes more sense.

Nothing that special. I was in the market for one and thought that most dealers around the area don't have 2012 135i any left. I did see one at local dealership (when i was there for services) with a lot of add-on and thought the PO might be looking at that one .

All I can tell you is this.
When I was negotiating for my 2012 in Jan. 2012 there was a new 2011 leftover on the lot. It wasn't exactly what I wanted (it was a DCT instead of a manual) but I told him I might take it if the price was right. I was expecting a great deal on the car as it was a year and a half old and a convertible in January in CT. But to my surprise he really only was willing to give me a couple hundred dollars lower than what I could order a 2012 for. I tried several times to get him to deal in it but no dice. So I guess it dependes upon what incentives are out there. Based on my experience I would say $1500 below invoice is pretty good, though it wouldn't hurt to shoot for $2k off.

A new 2012 base package is $37,230 (invoice) according to NADA. So, you have to consider the extras; special color, M-Sport, Premium, etc. GL
