Yeah... a chipped 135i will easily take a 370z, let alone a 350.

There's so much more you can do (easily) to a turbo engine to yield more power than a N/A engine.

Unless there is something wrong with your car, your friend secretly installed a blower or nitrous, or you suck at driving, there is no way he could win. You're putting at least 350 horses and 350 ft lbs to the wheels with a JB4. I just googled "350z intake exhaust dyno" and came up with 270 hp and 233 tq to the wheels. Yeah. No contest.

Ok so we did 2 run. First was 40-130 I destroyed him prob about 8-9 cars do then he wanted to do a dig to 100 I only been driving stick for about 1 month so my launch was terrible. He was ahead by about 2 cars but I was able to reel him in and win by 3 cars. By 100mph. The first thing he said to me was. That his car has better handling. .... What a sore loser

From the factory it probably does have a stiffer suspension, since ours is softened to accommodate the runflat tires... And yes, it's more of a real sports car than a sporty luxury coupe like the 135i... but I wouldn't say it "handles" better as he said just to make up for his loss.

But yeah, you whipped him. I usually find that the type of people that like to brag about things, are the same type that don't like to admit to and take their losses in stride.

BTW, hope you did all this on a closed course (or really, at least on abandoned roads where nobody who isn't involved can get hurt). Usually street race stories aren't really allowed on this forum, but they are on n54tech.

Need to hurry and get my JB4, new Mustang people are becoming the worst kind to talk to. I respect the Boss 302, but...come on man.

Yeah, 350's are nice, but I like the way the sound a lot more than how they drive. Plus, that is one of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever driven.

My car pulled a Stillen Supercharged 370z with ease from an 80 roll with me being in 4th gear, and this was without meth. LOL

With a JB4 it'll be possible to take one of the new GTs from a dig, but on the highway it may be a different story. They have the displacement advantage at higher speeds. The mustangs are nice though, but I couldn't see myself driving one every day like I do this car. With JB4 and a few supporting mods I think you could take any stock or lightly modded 5.0. When you start talking about Boss 302 and the monster GT500, realize that at this point, the Mustang is costing more than your BMW... so what do you expect when something costs more? Ironically, this is exactly against the original mission statement of mustangs which are supposed to be the affordable, powerful car for the masses.

Either way, the 1er is more comfortable, more versatile, less "look at me," and you don't see yet another one every 10 cars that pass by (at least where I live). You don't need to be the fastest out there to have a great car. Remember when the 333 hp of the E46 M3 was a LOT? Things change, and one day the horsepower wars will end anyway.

I should also say.. Mustangs are one of my favorite cars. But at this point, the pricing and the power in these cars has gone beyond what they used to be and what I loved about them. Affordable, relatively powerful, sporty cars with attitude. At the price point of these newer mustangs I'd rather have a corvette, or even an M3. Sure I might not be as fast as a 650 hp shelby, but I'll have a real chassis with a nice non-solid rear axle, and I'll probably have more fun with it too. What good is 650 horses on a production car for the street? Give me a 4.6L GT from a few years back for like 25 grand (new! back then) and that's all I'd need in a stang.

The only fast 350/370z's are the ones that are turbocharged.

I used to own 350z all day long when I had my E46 M3. The fact that you are chipped should make that race embarrassing.

The fact that was bragging that his 350 is faster than your 1 demonstrates what was really important to him. He didnt come out and say first, 'my car handles better than yours". He was put in his place and embarassed by the BMW and now is back peddling to try and save face.

Kind of like a guy saying 'my wife is prettier than yours' and when his wife doesnt compare to the other, he says "well, my wife is a better cook than yours"

I had a 05 350Z and couldn't wait until after the break in to open it up. I was very disappointed. I thought there was going to be a big surge on the top but it was flat and boring. The car looked great but it really needs another 50-100Hp. Infinity has a V8 that would have been a good idea. All upgrades to fix it where expensive. I got rid of it after just 3 years.
