I guess I'm missing an inside here...
That X5 looks like it's a workhorse, but I was wondering how the chassis handled this kind of work, since it's not ladder-frame based like a lot of other SUVs out there? Any limitations or things to watch out for? |

Not being an Automotive expert I can't give vectors and algorithims, but- it pulls the trailer well, handles well under load.....apparently the negative camber in the back matched with the wheels being so close to the back give it great stability. That's what other "haulers" have told me at other forums.
Plus at the horse shoes I shine the wheels of the X5 and the trailer, and pimp the black rubber so I look awesome (nothing else to do!). The X5 is rated for 6000lbs. towing. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=107221

Great question.
Last year was my wife's first year back since 2000 and our two kids. Her best finish was in October, when she placed 5th out of 20. She competes in "Eventing", that is dressage, stadium jumping, and cross-country. It's for horse maniacs only! Honestly, all the people that compete at this level, you never actually win more than a ribbon, so it's a huge money waster. It is however, a GREAT family activity, so that is why I like it. On the hobby front, I'm practising tonight with some guys for a blues/rock band that will hopefully gig a fair bit this summer. I'm bringing my blue Fender Jazz Bass, tuned down to E flat, and my 50th anniversary P bass tuned to E440. The drummer is my best friend since 1992, and the other guys I have never met. It should be a blast, and if we do gig, then I can pay for my wife's entry fees for shows LOL!!

The horse trailer and the X5 make a very classy combo.
It must be stressful driving with a 1000 pound live animal in the back though! |

1200 lbs. Yes, it is. I am very patient and careful when turning, braking and accelerating. Our mare is used to it, and she has a lot of room back there, so she can find a good position. No matter, I always have some kind of hard likker drinkypoo when I get home from hauling!

Interesting.
I know dressage and I (think) I can figure out cross country, but what is "stadium jumping"; since it cannot possibly be litteral, is it what we see on TV, the ostacle course (sorry for the possible misnomer) ? As for your personalized reward after a hard day hauling Arse, sorry mare (double sorry I cannot resist these things ) good on ya (as long as you don't confuse the order. |

Yeah, she's good. It's so hard to get to that level....I'd rather focus my energy on my bicycles and basses. Horses are like women.....violently unpredictable and have a mind of their own.

Sorry guys, a bit off topic here. I just wanted to let you all know that we just confirmed a date for my band's next live gig: september 27 2006 at the Bar Chez Maurice in St-Lazare. Stew, there is no reason for you to miss that one : it's so close to your place If any of you guys want to get more details and/or come you can subscribe to our mailing list at Sector-A Web Site . Don't worry it is a low bandwidth mailing list. Let me know if you'd like to be there (I know it's quite a long time from now, but these things take time to prepare.) Ok end of sorry..... BTW, I'm not dead (not yet at least). Just too busy ... doing nothing, so I don't have time to post anymore But I was thinking of you guys this afternoon while I was washing my E90 outside in the sun !
