I fold mine in almost all the time. I just discovered the feture that if you hold your hand on the handle with your thumb on the raised lines on top of the handle for a couple of seconds after you close the door it will turn off the key if on, roll up all the windows close the sun roof, lock the doors and retract the mirrors. How cool is that!!!!! It won't kill the engine... I tryed

Saying that, it didn't stop one moron from wrenching the passenger side mirror from its folded position then kicking it so it bent back to touch the door frame.

After pushing it back into position, the mirror still worked! Very impressed.
jhbodle I always fold my mirrors too as there are too many jealous idiots here in the UK! If you have a BMW seems you are more likely to be targeted by the yobs.

This is standard comfort access operation.

If you were outside North America, you could do it by holding the lock button. Stupid America with all its stupid fears.

It's not an option on US Spec cars - bloody hell.

I had that happen this morning. Some stupid service advisor was being a dumb azz and started to pull on the mirror. I started yelling at him... I dont know what would make him do that!

I fold the mirrors up almost everytime I park the car... And its not even my car.

I never fold them in, I have often come back and seen slight rub marks on my mirrors over the years, then I had an ML that used to fold the mirrors when you locked the car, however one day I came back to find something had scratched the side of the car, now if the mirror had been out that scratch probably wouldn't have happened, so no I never fold them in as I would prefer a scratch on my mirror rather than down the side of my car.

It's a habit, I always fold them in. For me, this is the most useful option on my car. Our garage is extremely narrow (from 1937) and I would only have 1 inch or so without folding them in.

If the person scratches your entire car, they wont care if a mirror is there on not.
