Thank you so much for that. I will be switching my 128 to glacier alum trim when I get it. Do you have to take the entire center console out to remove the ashtray and trim?

I could not get it out from the top when I put in the ashtray delete. I believe that the center console has to come out to remove it. I will be pulling the center console soon as I have some other things I would like to do when I am in there.

You need to remove the entire center console. I have a DIY here for that as well.

Just some words of advice, when removing these trim parts make sure you warm the plastic up with a heat gun on low just a little bit. It will make it a tad more forgiving. Reason being is if the plastic clips are cold and you begin to pry on them they will snap right off. Which SUCKS, so just a heads up. I had to learn from my mistakes working in Cincinnati's cold weather.

Awesome write up! Just purchased a 2005 BMW 116i and all the paint on the trim is starting to peel. So going to try my hand and vinyl wrapping it!

Well guess I won't be doing my interior trim, seems like overkill to pop out a stupid ashtray trim, sucks really hate this silver trim
