How can you tell when the light bulbs are in all the way? I just put them in and it didn't seem like they turned very much at all.

There's three oddly shaped teeth around the bulbs and they should only fit in a particular way.

I think I might get these for my car. I'm just wondering, will my welcome lights work the same when I unlock the car??

Yes they will still work, however they will not fade quite as smoothly.

There seems to be a huge difference in the amount of space around the cover on the 128i because there is no way I can slip my hand in without totally cutting it up. Seems easier on a 135i.

So I've tried this before...got the cover off just to find out I had the wrong bulbs! after wrestling my car for 45 minutes I could not for the life of me get the cover back on and seated onto the tabs on the bottom. Had to drive to my dealer and asked very nicely if they could put the cover back on. They asked why the cover was off and I tried to just change the topic of discussion! Haha. Anyways I now have the proper bulbs...had then for about 5 days...I have absolute ice cold feet about trying to do this again and I've watched and read all the DIYs and read every FAQ and success/horror story. Haha. Anyone just want to install for me? Haha. ok...I got big hands...what is the absolute most best advice for getting the cover off and back on again?

Considering these for my car and was just wondering about brightness and color temp. If any of you have seen the actual stock led angel eyes on the newer models, how do these compare? Could they pass for stock?

Lux has two versions - a color temp of 5500k which matches the LCI brows on the 1er perfectly and the other option is 6500k which matches the LCI angel eyes on newer bimmers. Both are definitely much much brighter than the OEM 1ers but not as bright as the LCI E92. The design structure of our angel eyes means the rings aren't evenly lit. No amount of changing bulbs will fix that.

Before you ask, no you cannot use bulbs from newer bimmers on ours.

They won't pass as stock because stock is yellow while these are white.

Great info, thanks. I was worried about the evenness too. And yes, that would've been my next question!

I guess you'd have to attempt a full retrofit of the newer rings to get that look, which I really like. For some reason it just seems more high end to me, and plus you can see them coming from a mile away!

If you really want perfectly, evenly lit rings, look up Bavarian X LS3. They create their own LED rings for the 1er that surpasses the OEM E92 and even Audi. They seriously look like glowing TRON rings. Will cost ya about $700 though. I think I may go that route... someday.

For the drivers side, do you need to use the 10mm socket wrench to move the air cleaner box back for good install?

Yes. I removed the airbox first. Just make sure you seat it in perfectly afterwards.

My car just spent 2 weeks at the dealers after attempting this instal. Everything worked perfect for 24 hours, then I got an adaptive headlight failure warning. Then my Driver's side headlamp went completely out. When I took it in, the mod had corrupted 2 modules. I'm done with LUX.
