I drive in the mountains to and from school and it goes off. It really doesn't bug me that much...when it goes off when I turn on the car its just part of the whole noise the car makes for a few seconds.
I get more pissed when I put my netbook on my passenger seat and it trips the weight sensor. They really cant make it so that it doesnt trip under 5-10Kg? So instead of driving safely I have to reach over to the passenger side and clip in the belt. That is more of a stupid design. |

I think this feature is more valuable for those who live in climates that are usually warm and get to freezing temperatures rarely. Basically, us sunbelt types think it is freezing long before water freezes. We really don't have an intuitive feel for when it is really cold. On my last BMW that light came on about once a year.

Smart or Dumb?
My wife took the 135 to work this morning. She called me enroute to tell me that "One" was smart, as he knew it was cold. On the way home the opinion had changed to "One" is so dumb he doesn't realize that he has already told her more than 5 times (5 mile commute) that it is cold. It's guess it is the fluctuations that cause it.
And I am also extremely frustrated with the Fuel Low warning. Last week it must have gone off more than a dozen times during a 2 mile drive in congested rush hour. Of course each time it went off, I pushed the i-Drive button to remove it from the Navigation display, as I myself was in a rush and needed to see the time which it obscured. And then I had to click the wiper stalk to remove the alert there. And then 10 seconds later it would ding and show up on three different displays (two different alerts in the speedo cluster). That's four annoyances per 10 seconds, or 24 per minute, or a theoretical 1440 APH. I say theoretical, as I likely could not travel at 30 MPG for an entire hours, so I would be stranded instead.

Mine's been on several times in the last week while it's been in the mid-to-low 30s. But I get up pretty early in the morning.

The less than 30 miles to go fuel warning is worse. In fact.. it's the worst thing about my one. You cannot dismiss it. The bitch keeps coming back and back and back and back. Quit bugging me.. I am trying to concentrate on driving.. and I KNOW already I am low on fuel.

The gong/snowflake only comes on repeatedly if you go from 37 or below back up above 37 (I am not sure if there is a deadband) and then back down. I had it go on at the bottom of the hill repeatedly one early morning drive to the Performanc Center for an autocross. The tops of the hills were 40 or so but the bottoms were 37 or less. It was not helpful.
