You can lock your keys in the car with CA

Well I've done it.
I can lock my keys in my car even with the Comfort Access :-)

1. Unlock all doors.
2. Open passenger door
3. Open glove box
4. Lock car, throw key in glove box, close glove box, and close passenger front door.

The keys are now in the car, the entire car is locked and there is nothing you can do....

Or is there Tierfreund? (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PM me the answer)

haha it wasn't an experience...it was a test.

The car can sense that the key is inside, and then lets you unlock it - or gives a warning. I put the key in the glove box (infront of the front passenger) so that it's not technically anywhere the sensors can pick it up.

Is that true? I do not have Comfort Access, but I do have Assist. If I lock myself out, can BMW Assist remotely unlock the door? I've heard the ads from OnStar, but I hadn't heard about it w/ BMW.

It definitely is possible to lock your key in car w/CA.

Just take the metal key out of the fob, leave it in the car and lock the car.

Heheheheh

I just tried the same experiment, and it wouldn't lock unless the second fob was nearby. I put my fob in the glove box and it wouldn't let me lock the car. I got my wife's fob and put it in my pocket, then it would let me lock the car with my fob in the glove box.

Hey broken1, why don't you lock your car with all your keys in and you try to call BMW assist to test them.
Please let us know if they can open the car, especially today.
May be you should try on New Year eve, that is going to be a real test.

BMW Assist can not unlock you car, it is not like the OnStar system that can. This is interesting though, the glove box must some type of sensor that blocks the signal from the fob…?

Lock the car using the lock button on the fob, just before you throw it in to the glovebox.

It was end of yr boredom.

We don't have BMW Assist here - we have BMW On Call, and they cannot do anything to the car remotely.
