I spent yesterday switching between a 335i and 135i for autocross. The 135i is definitely faster and more fun.

But if you drag race him with your DCT, I hope you can figure out how to launch it better than I did.

Wow, I read and heard that the 135i and the E46 M3 were about the same speed and that the M3 had slightly better handling but didn't know our hot little # did this well in comparison.
Way back when they said the 1 didn't handle as well as the 335i because it had the usual understeer so I was a little surprised seeing the 335i come in last.

Actually, most tests I've seen show the 335i to be quicker on the track.
Mainly due to it's better sorted suspension, which counts for a LOT on a track.

The 135i has the straight line advantage, though it's not too big, so if a MT 135i and MT 335i were to race it could be a drivers race.

That was just one test, so it shouldn't be used exclusively to make a judgment. Also, the E46 M3 is greatly superior in handling.
All the talk about the 1 series suspension is true. It ain't the best nor that great. It's pretty darn good though for OEM.

I'm sure the technology since the 2006 M3 has improved in today's car but yeah I know the extra money for the M3 is going somewhere.

Only had the car for 2 weeks and has been raining half the time but I'm sure the 1 handles just fine.
