Having driven all 3 trans types before my purchase, I think you would be on drugs to buy anything other than the manual. It is the smoothest 6 speed I've driven by a country mile. Better than any HSV, SSV, VW Golf GTI.

Dont get me wrong, the Auto and the DCT are great, but they are still both relatively brainless. I suppose I like choosing what gear I want the car in - at least then if i stuff it up its my fault. However I found both Autos to hunt a bit when driving around town.

Ultimately its personal preference, but the smooth manual in this go-kart gets my vote.

Good luck with your purchase, let us know what you decide.

I haven't driven the auto and I'm pleased to hear others on this forum have given it the thumbs up.

DCT in my experience feels a little uncertain when coming to complete stops, other than that it acts as expected, I'm not sure if there is a difference to DCT with PPK, those with both can chime in.

Having owned many performance manual cars, I think the N55 6MT is just right for street performance (slightly shorter shifting to the N54 and same to the 1M...) The clutch is also weighted perfectly, just a pleasure to drive.

Don't forget, if you buy interstate, when you hand the plates back at Vic roads get a receipt and them claim back the pro-rata amount of the registration left on the car from interstate.
So if you get a car from Sydney with 10 months rego, you'll get a bit cash back to help out.

Wow seems like a bit of variance in people's transmission preference here. I guess the best bet is still to try all 3 of them. I feel like if I can find the right deal on a manual in the right colour with appropriate Ks I will pull the trigger though.

As for how many Ks I aim for, it almost seems counter-intuitive to go for higher Ks, but may well be the most reasonable option in this case. Perhaps 80-120 is the sweet spot? I've seen quite a few cars with over 130, but I feel like that may be pushing it.
