128/135 features vs. 328/335

I'm new to the forums so hopefully this hasn't already been covered...

From what I can tell so far about the 1 series vehicles is that they really are just smaller versions of the 3 series cars. It looks like anything I can get in a 3-series, I can get in the 1-series with the same engine. Is that in fact true?

Basically, what I'm asking is other than the obvious size differences, what will I miss from a 3-series compared to a 1-series? My current lease will be up next year, and it will likely be a 1 vs. 3 decision, and it will certainly be influenced by the fact that I can probably get much more 1 for the money than I would 3. But what about the little things (for example: cabin lighting, garage door opener, automatic headlines)? What about all the options (like adaptive steering, active cruise control, Logic-7)? Are they going to be the same? I'm sure there must be some things exclusive to the 3-series and higher, just like there are things only available on the 5 and 7 series that you can't get on a 3.

Well, not entirely true. With the 3-series, you get (a little) more space, an option of a Station Wagon, a Family Sedan and hard top converts. The styling is quite different between the two, but the 1-series is based on the E9X platform. Take the smaller size, slightly less bulk, and less strain on the bank into consideration and you've got your argument right there.

The 135i also has 6-piston caliper front brakes, so far the best standard in any production BMW to date (save for maybe some ///M models). That alone is a great value, but then again we havent accounted for how much brake dust those bad boys will stir up.

As far as options are concerned, I believe the same ones will be offered on the 1 as are offered on the 3. The 135i has far more standard features than the 328i or 335i coupes.

+1. The 1-Series options list should be spot-on those for the 3-Series. I would expect them to cost the same, too. I can't think of anything that is available on the 3-Series that doesn't also appear to be available on the 135i.

I have been trying to figure out the same thing. Looking over the UK book you can see it has pretty much the same options.
The only problems I have is I see they come standard with cloth with leather on the sides. I dont know if they will have Leatherette(what I want). I really dont like leather because of the wear and tear. I also dont see a premium package (dont know if this is because its UK).

So those are my only real problems Is I want leatherete to be standard and if not they better have a premium package. Ohhh and It seems I will have to pay extra for poplar grey interior
