Yep, has happened to us several times. We have the VERT, and use the button to raise all the windows at once, and then the driver side window drops 1/2 way down. Strange.

I'm having the same problem also. Do you have the BMW alarm system installed? I had mine at the dealer for two days hooked up to a computer connected to BMW Munich, for software update related to this problem. It worked great for a week, then back to the some old thing.

You have to do a window reset, it was posted on this forum a couple of weeks ago.
This procedure will reset the windows limits so that when you open the door the window will drop the 1/4 inch. - Sit in the car, and put the key in position 1, so you have power to the windows. - Push and hold down the window switch, and keep it held down for 5 seconds after the window is all the way down. This re-sets the memory, telling the motor, in effect, “Remember where we are now? ” - Roll window back up, and release switch. - Open door. Marvel at the downward motion of the window. Repeat on other side, if needed. |

I tried the window reset, the dealer also tried the window reset, it works for maybe two cycles. Its when I used the one touch auto up with window all the way down, the window goes half way sometimes 3/4 way up the comes back down. Its like the pinch protection is working with nothing there.

I've had some window issues also, and my sunroof does the same thing every once in a while. Cold months, my windows roll down about 1/8inch too short and rub on the frame. A reset fixes it for about a week.
Could your issues be related to the pressure sensor? Although they're still prob rolling up too high, but maybe there's a way to reset the pressure sensor? Just a thought. |

I had this same problem with my Nissan Maxima when using the auto up on the window. I sold the car before I fixed that.

The same thing happened to me over Memorial Day. Tried the re-set procedure and couldn't get it to work. I eventually took it to my local dealer - two SAs tried to get the re-set procedure to work and failed. Finally, they said that they had just received a service bulletin on this problem and it required new programming - they indicated that BMW would not have it ready for release until July. As of this past Monday, it is still not available. Still afraid to roll the window (passenger side) down....

I am pleased to report that it is FIXED...a new software update resolved the problem. Something to do with pressure sensor. It adjusted the parameters. It has nothing to do with ALARM, Comfort access, etc...SOFTWARE.
RESOLVED! |

well I just got back from the dealership, and unfortunately, they do not believe this is a software issue... after reviewing the TSB, they said the window motor would have to be replaced, not updated with new software... they ordered the part for me and are going to replace it in a few days... ill keep you guys updated on what happens...
p.s. when i mentioned the new software update, they also said they were not aware of any such thing... |

Ask them to talk to SA Bob in BMW service at Motor Werks in Barrington, Il. 847-381-8900.
I guess they can throw parts at it, but it is a software issue...well, for most of us with the window that rolls 1/2 way down on its own. If it was the motor, the window would not move.....same as with a broken regulator. If my dealship has the software, why don't the others? U am not Tech, but they are clueless. |
