Is replacemnt of CA fob battery covered under the maintnace program?
I noticed a message in dash telling that key battery is discharged. So I guess it is covered, however I would verify first if somebody really got battery replacement in a dealer center?

I'd check with your service adviser. If you use the key often then I'd guess it would be.. but don't point the finger at me since I don't work in service
The battery is only like $10.00 luckily. Once the key is popped open, you have a limited time to replace it and put it back together. I'm not sure the exact time frame.

I just got my car back from the body shop after I got rear ended. The key fob unlocked and locked the door when I dropped it off there but today when I picked it up it won't work to unlock or lock the doors. I called them back and they of course say it worked when it was there and I have to go to bmw to get it diagnosed. I wonder if my battery is dead or something?

But if BMW finds out they will void your whole warranty!

It's been about a year since I popped my fob open, but, as I recall, the battery was identical to the one in my Honda remote. Nothing special, just a fairly generic battery.

Just to make sure we're clear... there is a difference between CA and non-CA fobs, regarding the battery systems.
I have comfort access on my e90 and had decreased responsiveness, etc. recently. Was at my dealer for a scheduled maintenance, and requested a new one. No questions asked - replaced. I'm confused why, if you're still under warranty, anyone would assume BMW wouldn't resolve this issue for you for free?

I can assume it has non volatile memory, however powered by just a tad capacitor when battery is out.

I got home to test my other remote to see if that will work and it won't unlock or lock my doors. It seems like the body shop that had my car did something to it to cause the remotes not to work now. They tell me it worked while they had it but the minute I picked it up it would not work. Now I have to make an appointment at BMW to have them diagnose the problem, ugh! Anybody else just randomly have their remotes just stop working?

Did they have to take the doors apart? If so, the shop may not have put the wiring back correctly. There is dedicated wiring to the CA sensors that, if unplugged, will render CA useless to lock/unlock but the door will still function normally with the fob buttons.
