New tires - slight rubbing - issues at the track???
Just installed a set of RS3's on my stock is wheels. Went 225/40 and 255/35. Fronts rub intermittently when cranked pretty hard - parallel parking and such.
My question is; will I have an issue at the track when there is significant load on one side of the car in a corner? My fear is that the rubbing will be much more of an issue at 100mph : / Going to Buttonwillow on Sunday as well, so I need to find a solution fast!!! Any input would be appreciated! |

Throw hard into a corner on the street and you'll know if it'll be an issue later on. Know of any uphill compressions near you that you could hit? On Lime Rock Park I had some horrible rubbing only on the uphill and the downhill onto the front straight.

For autocross (and for about 8 months on the street) have been running 245/35s on my stock sized front rims.
They rub ever so slightly on the struts under load (it just cleans the dirt off of them), a bit on the forward fender liner, and it does rub against the lower front control arm at lock. Again, I've had NO issues with this setup beyond cosmetic rubbing. And this under heavy load at autocross and track conditions. So, party on with the 225's. By the way, in the 245's, I've run Hoosier R6's, Kumho XS's, and am currently trying out Federal 595RS-Rs. The Federals have been the widest of the bunch and they fit fine. |

I appreciate all the advice; it looks like the rubbing is on the front of the outside fender. So in a hard turn, that would be the high side of the car anyways.
Should be good! |
