Guys...I can't believe that it has been 1 week already (at least for me)...to celebrate 'Ralf's' one week anniversary , decided to give him a little treat : a pair of Blacklines (managed to grab e90poster Bavarian19's lights for $210 bucks)...he helped this notoriously DIY-adverse individual with the install

Amber Blinkers

I was a bit iffy on the blacklines (couldn't make up my mind) but decided to go for it (I could always swap them out). I must say that on SG it looks awesome...makes my car stand out a little bit more from the other e90s driving around...believe me my SG non-ZSP 325i needs every little bit of help to stand out

Decided to forgo on the chrome trim swap (at least for now)...I am satisfied with the current monotone color scheme ... but am starting to feel inadequate wrt 156s (esp in pics)...

Mr. K - the blacklines look pretty sweet. I was shocked to see this post because of your previous comments regarding your DIY lazyness. It was nice to have somebody else in my court - now it looks like I'm all alone again Anyway, I love the amber lights.

Congratulations to everyone who sailed on the Don Juan. I am one of your sister-ship mates who came over on the Maersk Wave, just about 2 days after my e90 missed the Don Juan.

I posted this question on our ship's thread, but thought I'd post it here also for a bigger response: for those of you who ordered navigation, which disc version did you receive? My dealer gave me version 2005.2, but Navteq's website says that 2006.2 is available. (The release version is printed on the disc.)

I'm guessing BMW just hasn't started to distribute 2006.2 or even 2006.1 yet, unless someone on here received it...

Thanks!! I love 'em ... if bavarian19 didn't help me with the install (well he did the whole darn thing and I watched ), wouldn't have considered them (at this time)...how's your AW 330 coming along...??

Was hoping to hear from Mr. Fletcher, iirc he was considering the blacklines on his SG 330 as well....looks like I might have beaten him to it

bsjd00: sorry mate, can't help you...didn't opt for the nav

Nice...simply nice! They make the rear look a little wider IMO, and they simply flow better with the color than do the standard lights! Now you've got me thinking about them again!

What do you make of the golf-tee mod (exhaust butterfly valve modification) for the 330i...that's been going around??

I'm seriously considering it again! Now...have you added those spacers yet? Just do it!

I have hear NOTHING at all about an exhaust mod. I'll have to do some searching on the subject, and get back to you on that.

Shipmate Fletcher: Spacers on the 156s...should I? Still scouting for a suitable wheel upgrade...can only go up to 17s due to the lack of all-season RFT 18s...

Been reading about the golf-tee cheap mod...leaves the valve in the exhaust open for more louder low-speed burble/music ... track down SteveMD, he has this mod on his 330...

Btw...could anyone care to comment on this moving redline? thread

Just out of curiousity...my tachometer shows 5 tickmarks before redline but I have seen pictures with less...the thread is not going anywhere but now I am so curious!! ... wondering if there might be a difference between the 325s or 330s...

I would consider a wheel tire package the same size and offset as the sport package model.. Al La the 161s. You would have the sizes and offsets already set, and you could get the RFTs also. With the spacers in the back the car looks awesome. Stance very similar to Fletchers I would imagine. His wheels are larger in diameter but sidewall is correspondingly smaller. I may go to aftermarket wheels at some point, but I really love the look of the 161s, and they fill the wells perfectly. For what its worth guys I might stay away from the "golf tee mod" ?? If I wanted a better exhaust sound I think I would go to a high end exhuast system engineed for the BMW. Ive been a hot rodder and worked on cars all my life. Modern cars with computer control are set up for a given back pressure etc. I dont know how you do the golf tee mod, but if it involves shoving a golf tee into an exhaust butterfly to change the sound.. I dont think thats what you really want to do to 35 plus thousand dollar cars built by some of the best engineers in the world.. Just some food for thought. One thing I know we can all agree on.. Every day that passes with this amazing vehicle convinces me of one thing... We made the right Choice !

Mine also has the 5 or so tick marks, but they don't move/adjust...just there. I'm curious of those who insist theirs move!

Well...I'm not sure there's any reason NOT to install spacers. Whatever tire/wheel combo you have, I can't for a second imagine it would make it look worse to move them out closer to edge of the wheel well. Though I haven't read specifically about anybody doing it without the ZSP setup, and/or some after market mods, I'm still of the belief it would have to look better than tucked in as it is stock. I believe I read somewhere that the offsets for all the stock setups on the E90 are the same (34 front, 37 rear), so the effect would be similar (sans the higher suspension you have on your non-ZSP). I think for $125 it's a no brainer, and like the $210 chance you took on the blacklines, I'm sure you could always sell them to somebody if they didn't trip your trigger!

I did finally read up a bit on it, and I'm still out on what benefit it might provide. As more information is made available, I'll adjust as necessary.

Yep, I'm going to sit back and wait for some concrete information to pop up until I seriously consider that particular mod. Like what is the interaction of that particular device with the rest of the performance, ECU, etc., and how might its modification affect other areas of performance, if any? No, I'm going to wait a bit, and see if anything else comes along to change my mind. Sort of like the air breather mod they've been discussion. It might make a difference, and probably doesn't hurt anything, but am I willing to destroy an backflush filter just to see? Not yet I'm not...but it's on the short list of "watch and see."

My excrutiating long wait has come to an end as i finally took delivery tonight! Unfortunately, there's some light snow tonight so the only real driving i got in was the drive back from the dealer. I'll tell you though, just sitting in this car (as i've been doing for the last hour or so) is an amazing experience!

Fletcher, let me know whenever you want to do that photo shoot...

Scrooge - grats on the new ride! The E90 is a fantastic car. I don't think the smile has left my face since I took delivery two weeks ago.

Post some pics when you get a chance.

CONGRATS!!! I got mine broken in, and I've let her loose a few times already, once with a buddy in the car. Was his holding on and telling me to take it easy any indication what this car is capable of? I slowed down for him, but I had to show him it wasn't just a "luxury" car as he indicated. Full out throttle with a curve or two tossed in (yes, it was traffic free) is an effective way of changing another's mind!

Pics of that car Scrooge!

Concerning the shoot... First weekend with warm, sunny, and dry weather should suffice. sblument is anxious too. I think we should make it late enoug in the day we can get some direct sun shots, some late afternoon and evening shots (for some of those more unique colors SG shows), and some night and flourescent lighting shots (when I feel SG shines her best). Keep an eye out on weather.com!

Fletch!

Mr Fletcher: You reached 1,200 miles!! ... I still have about a good 350 miles to go...

How is she? Any issues thus far...this weekend makes it 2 awesome weeks since delivery. Excitement has subsided (marginally) enough to notice that my car's interior is a tad noisy. I have some very faint interior rattles, clicks and squeaks originating from the front passenger side, that I did not expect so soon...I am going to have to monitor the situation and take it up with an SA within the month or so...Also I am quite disappointed with Sirius' content/programming...I have yet to find a sweet spot wrt music programming, I find myself using the ipod most of the time. I hope an acceptable ipod intergration solution is offered soon enough.

Btw did you ever source the cargo organizer. It was rather hard to find, but I finally bought one off ebay for $89 shipped (should be anytime now). Pacific BMW held on to my money for some days before notifying me of the backorder status. My dealer's parts dept mentioned 26 units were backordered...if you're still interested poster Booster can do 1 for $85 shipped (he got back to me after I bought it off ebay)....

Not sure if you read the other SG swirl thread but alas! my baby is perfect no more...have some issues with micro-scratches after a miscalculated encounter with an auto-wash Before you mention "zaino" I am planning on taking the car for a full buff and wax job ...

Funny thing...the wife has commandered the 325i (as can be expected)...thus I am forced to commute to work in my trusty Honda...which suddenly seem so glaringly deficient compared to the e90. Thus, I am giving serious thoughts of doing an ED on another e90 sometime in the last quarter of the year if everything goes well/steady....

Consideration of other marques seem to be secondary at best

Actually I have close to 1500 miles!

After a couple of days I noticed I have a windshield that needs to be replaced. The passenger side windshield is imperfect with several top-to-bottom length waves in it. I spoke to my CA, and he said to bring it in, they'll look at it, and replace it without incident. They also forgot to put my front license plate bracket in the trunk when I took delivery, but the CA again said to come in, and they'll give it to me (they would have to look for it). If they haven't found it, they'll order one (or should have by now). No-issue issues.

The only other issue is potentially the most serious though. I've been keeping a keen eye on whether or not my car doesn't in fact have some type of inconsistent acceleration. A week or so after I took delivery, I noticed it seemed to have a power/acceleration flat spot (accelerates adequately and uniformly until it hits a "wall") in first and second gears between 3000-4000 RPMs. Since that time, I've nearly determined the flat spot disappears if only I accelerate hard; however, when I accelerate hard, it seems flat and/or hesitates up until about 3000 RPMs when I seem to feel it "take off" on me. I realize that torque isn't distributed evenly throughout the range of RPMs, but what I'm feeling isn't right. I just figured I'd continue to find opportunities when I can control the observations better. So far I'm leaning towards taking it in and having the dealership look her over.

No, at this point I've managed to organize everything that will remain with the car sufficiently, and I'm not really leaning towards anything more where the trunk is concerned. Time and need will dictate if that changes or not.

Not sure if you read the other SG swirl thread but alas! my baby is perfect no more...have some issues with micro-scratches after a miscalculated encounter with an auto-wash Before you mention "zaino" I am planning on taking the car for a full buff and wax job
...
Just make sure you find somebody who knows what they are doing, or they'll only make it worse. But doesn't it just suck when you see them? I've noticed the SG is a VERY finicky color with respect to micro scratches. I put some new ones on mine just dusting her off (not NEARLY as many as before), but I use that product you told me not to mention to remove them! Other than that...my baby ONLY gets the spray washes with a follow up from me in my driveway to remove whatever spots may remain.

Consideration of other marques seem to be secondary at best
Wow! Might you consider the 330i next time around? What color? Different, or matching? Sport package? Others?

Mr Fletcher: Hmmm flatspotting...to be honest I have not had ample opportunity to run her up the revs (mostly city driving)...I will be sure to keep a lookout. I plan to take her up to Atlantic City next weekend... to give 'Ralf' ample space to stretch his legs a little...

Noting down your windshield issue. I do seem to have one annoying defect. The left plastic cap for the winshield wiper pivot mount is misaligned and efforts to push it back in place is not working (mind my DIY-deficiency)

Well if all goes well, looking at a arktis or jet black with black/alu 325 with xenons, ZSP and Sat prep...gonna keep the 2nd one lean and mean...for Dec 06 ED...some months to go but having a small family reunion in Switzerland (where my sister resides) so the timing would be perfect...this is also dependent on how the e92 comes out wrt pricing and availability and if there are changes in the e90 range e.g. 323i or 328i models...kinda looking forward to going through the whole ordering/tracking process...strangely
