Electrical question.

Does anyone know what in the 135i continues continues to run for about 15 - 30 seconds after you turn the car off and lock it? It's something that is drawing electricity. Maybe comfort access has something to do with it? Any ideas are welcome.

Could be...

low pressure fuel pump(LPFP) to circulate fuel to prevent vapor lock when the engine is hot.

electric water pump circulating coolant to the turbos and (around the)cylinder head.

I was wondering if it was the water pump. It kind of makes sense with the timing. I'm having a static over the radio. It doesn't happen on start up. It happens after driving for a while not long after though. It almost sounds like a static heart beat. When I turn the car off and get out and lock it the sound keeps going. I'll have to see if my car had the water pump replaced. For some reason I want to say there was a recall? Or maybe they just go bad a lot and that's what I've seen. Maybe the water pump is on its way out. I guess it doesn't hurt to replace it either way.

Are you talking about the high pitched whine from the engine compartment? Is it causing some sort of trouble? I'm pretty sure you're hearing the throttle body motor.

No. Not a whine, it's a pulse from the speakers. It seriously sounds like a heart beat. If you've ever seen a movie with a scene of a baby sonogram, the sound they have for the heartbeat on movie sonograms is what it sounds like.

I was starting to think it might be the radio. I've seen some pixelation on the screen.

Once the static starts while driving it doesn't stop. It doesn't vary or get louder or quieter. Pressing every button or pedal doesn't manipulate the sound at all. Always the same sound. Until I turn it off for a little bit.

I'll have to take her in sometime and get that water pump checked or just replaced.

Sorry... I couldn't help myself...

(one of my fav Porsche videos from the 993 generation)

PS: I think your car needs a SW update - seriously. This static or clicking has been reported before. Most owners notice the static after they shut off the engine and the radio is OFF, but the clicking emanates from the speakers. SW fixes this.

That's a great idea. Didn't even think of that. I'll ask the dealer about the update. Wonder if I should flash the car back to stock before I ask for the update.

If your out of warranty i wouldn't be concerned about that. I don't see how a tune would affect a sw update; albeit I'm not well versed in that. Maybe somebody with more knowledge can chime im

I'm not sure how it works either. But I know if they find the tune the warranty on my turbos won't be there anymore. I'll try everything else before I bring it to the dealer. They've offered to do some out of warranty work for free but I managed to solve the problem before my appointments so I try to keep that good faith fix for another time when I'll need it to do something I can't.
