Actually, according to the website, that tuner arranges for painting/laquering the alu inserts in soft/glossy black, so I guess it can be left in its original alu color if a customer requests to keep it that way:
"[Date: 07-08.06.2011] News from our seats tailor: The seat parts were stripped from the original seats. The seatbelt frames [= the alu inserts] inside the head part are now entering the paint shop and are laquered with a special soft/glossy lacquer." "[Datum: 07-08.06.2011] News aus unserer Sattlerei: Die Sitze werden vom Original Sitzbezug befreit. Die Gurtrahmen aus den Kopfteil gehen nun in die Lackiererei und werden mit einer speziellen Softlackierung lackiert." BMW Performance Seats = Recaro Sportster CS seats. No commission. No master plan. Metak was trailblazer for that tuner.

No boost, not sure about IATs, as much as it would be worthwhile, I don't think it's got it

UPDATE:
I did the math and seems kinda difficult to spend $550USD on top of the $1129 I could get the from my dealership. I'm just to big a cheapskate even if I could afford it. I would rather use the money on other mods. So I just got the OEM electronic PW V2. I hope the thread is still useful for those that want a restitched and resurfaced(non-alcantara leather) performance wheel. I just don't understand why BMW does not offer the wheel with leather and M stitching, I know there is enough of a demand(for many years), I think it would sell like hotcakes! Here is my V2 wheel.

Congrats, can't go wrong either way.
I still haven't made up my mind whether to go with the LED version or not. At BMW's tent at Lime Rock I was bouncing between the M3 (non LED Perf wheel) and Performance F30 335i (V2 LED wheel), and I still can't decide if I should go for the simple version (the blue stripe would bother me), or the V2 (which I am afraid may look Knight Rider-ish once the novelty wears off). Decisions decisions...

I agree, If they come out with a full leather wheel I would be all over it. Until then I will just be happy with me stock one. |

Metak how are you liking the wheel and what do you think of the plastic pieces on top?!
Do you know if there are instructions for the regular Performance Wheel or can the above ones be used (minus the installation parts for the different harness etc.)? Thanks! |
