coupe vs convertible
It might be early days for this sort of question, but has someone driven both the convertible and the couple? Driving dynamics, noise levels, comfort, etc. are often different for these variants so it would be interesting to learn what the impressions have been so far.

I haven't done a detailed comparison..... but I test drove both twice. All I can really say is they felt the same. Except of course for the excitement of feeling the wind blowing through my long locks of beauty.

both
I have a 128 coupe and have driven the 128 convertible. Both have nice driving dynamics. I traded in an 02 M3 convert on the coupe, would say the 128 has better structural integrity than M3 did, obviously not as fast. I chose the coupe because I drive a lot and the noise, even with the top up, on freeways got fatiguing. HAve not looked bac,

I have driven both. The 135i and 128i coupe at the BMW driving event and a 128i convertible with the top up and down.
All of them are great cars. The 128i has decent power it's just hard to have one once you've driven the 135i since it's power is intoxicating. The sound levels in the convertible are very low. You get better head room in a vert as well although I found the coupe head room fine for me and I'm 6' tall. Back seat room is less in the vert with less leg room and less shoulder room as the roof storage cuts into both. The driving dynamics were awesome on the coupes knowing that the 128 wasn't going to be as fast off the line as the 135. The 128 vert very similar to the 128 coupe I drove even though it is a couple hundred pounds heavier. In the end I decided on the 135i vert since I've never had a vert and really wanted one now. |
