Question How Should I Wipe Gas Off Of The Paintwork?

Hi guys and gals,

I spilled a few drops after filling up. I was planning on following this procedure:

1. Drench spot with water.
2. Gently wash area with sheepskin mitt and car wash shampoo.
2. Remove suds with more water.
4. Dry.

Any problems with this? Can I still use the sheepskin mitt on other parts of my car after using it to mop up a gas spill?

Thanks!

Cool. So the mitt isn't a total loss? It can be safely used again if washed?

umm what? shit you guys are scaring me, is it a big problem if you get gas on your paint? i spilled some when I was filling up a couple days ago, the day after I washed/waxed it... should I run outside right now and wash that area or something? I just ignored it, didn't really notice any wierd reactions or anything, may be the wax absorbed it or is it a long term damage type of thing?

Its not good for the paint, but dont stress too much, just grab a paper towel from the gas station, wet it and wipe it, that will do.

it's gas, not acid. wipe it off, then hit it with some quick detailer (i carry a bottle in trunk) if you can't wash it right away. really not a big deal....

The wax and clear coat are there to protect the paint. So, don't panic.
